Eagle Excelsior Button

[foundation hunter]

Found this button next to a well about 10 inches down. The signal was strong but broken,i took about 3 inches off the top and the signal was solid. On back it says [ WARRANTED IMPERIAL PLATED] on front it says[EXCELSIOR]. I would appreciate any imformation on history and value.

It's an early (c. 1800-1815) New York Militia button similar to Tice NY100A36. Great find!

I agree wondeful and apparently unlisted find. It is an Albert NY10, (Tice NY100 A) , however the exact wording of your backmark is not listed in Tice. There are several backmarks in Tice which are very close to your's but aghain, not exact.
