Eagle Head from woods find

[Bruce Ct]

I found this eagle head in a wooded area (stone wall etc) near a rural crossroads.
It seems to be made of cast brass or bronze. Any ideas as to what it was part of, age etc?
It came from about 6-8 inches deep.

Probably an umbrella handle similar to this one

Looks like a sleigh eagle. Scroll down to "A Dash of Class" at:

Thanks Jeff - sure looks like it - and the size is right. I felt it was too small for a cane top or walking stick. Thanks to all who responded.

Perhaps it is a flagpole finial.
