I found this little gem under those same high school bleachers.... also found a '54 silver rosie.... but this ring..... any ideas how old it is?? any way to track down the owner ?? It has a 7 on the inside band right behind the face... and is stamped sterling.... weighs 1/10 of an ounce

You could probably contact the local boy scouts office and ask them if anyone has lost a cub scout ring. If anyone comes forward...see if they can recall where they may have lost it.

Unless there is a name on it....you probably won't find the owner...and again...it may have been there for years. That young CUB is probably grown now with his own family.

It's not an Eagle Ring ... but a Wolf Cub Scout ring...nice find....:)

Ranks are BOBCAT, WOLF, BEAR, WEBELO

Wolf are boys who have completed the 1st grade or 8 yrs old.

Tigers are younger than Cubs.

Happy Hunting,
Annmarie

PS: Or you could contact the man on this website: http://mitchreis.com/bsaneed.htm
with a pic of the ring....bet he could date it for you!!!

Cub Scout rings in sterling are listed in the premium ring book ar $25 to $30. I usually find one or two per year.

Very cool find. Would look great in a shodow box .

Nice BSA Cub Scouts ring.

I found out today that it is from the 1940's-1950's...... so a nice ring that is older than I maybe thought.... just unbelievable that after 30+ years of every machine pounding this site that this was still there.... I found another silver rosie yesterday as well.... brings the total to 4 silver dimes, and this ring in the past 3 days... going back this afternoon... I will post the complete totals once I have combed over it a few more times

Great!!! I was thinking more like 50's/60's....so it's older than I thought too!

Yep, that little Wolf Cub who lost that ring probably has a youngin' or two in scouts himself....or had in scouts!

Only ring I'll get my boys...is when they make EAGLE!!!!

Again, great find!

I had one one these when I was in the cub scouts in the 60"s. Cool find, congrats!

:)

I had a cub scout ring just like that. Lost it going swimming in a lake in Indiana. That was 1964..HH

Like others have said, it is a great find and they turn up quite often. I have found two over the years and have seen others found. Probably more rare than some coins but I believe the reason they turn up so often is that they are more recent in history and because they were generally lost in areas that are hunted often like parks, sports fields, school playgrounds and beaches.

Good addition to your collection. You probably won't find the owner but you can try. I would estimate that your ring is probably from the 50's or 60's.
