My first class ring, help needed

Looking for some help on this one. This is my first class ring find and would love to return it. I believe it is the Palmetto texas brownsville high school and there are legible initials inside. Just dont really know how to go about it further. I seem to remember people talking about a member on this forum who is really good at tracking these things down. Any help would be appreciated.

If you've I.D'd the school, year, and initials, try to find a yearbook for that class to check for initials that match. Sometimes the school will help, but, don't hold your breath on them. I've had better luck going through alumni groups on facebook.

Nice ring! Looks like '55 ... owner probably no longer with us, but it may mean something to their descendants. Google 'lost class rings' and you'll see some sites that may help.

Guy would be 88ish, 95% probability he is gone...but really cool if stil alive. Relatives, as they are, would scrap the ring in a heart beat. So, if alive return and if dead keep. imo

Generally men’s ring are easier to track.
Women often have a surname change and the initial often changes with it.
The smaller the class, the better the chance too IMO.

What are the three initials?
From my experience, you can get an assortment of responses when contacting the owner or an heir.
Tell the listener exactly where you found the ring and your desire to return it to the owner or heir,.
Be prepared to answer each response. .
1.They hung up, believing it's a scam. Call again or try Emaling which will involve research.
2.They may ask: How much do you want of the ring? Quickly tell them it's free to the right person.
3.They may say they'll have to think about it. Quickly give them your contact info and ring description
4. The heir may refuse the ring saying he/she either doesn't want it or too much emotion attached.

By the size of the ring I would think it probably be a man's ring. I in the past have contacted the ring manufactures and tried to get info and HAD NO LUCK. I have also contacted the schools and had no luck there. I seen the year 55 on it so maybe original owner is no longer with us. Might have look for a relative you might try classmates.com. I believe it is a womens ring. It barely fits halfway down my pinky.
I did find a Mary Jo Pace on their class of 55 message board. Is there a Mary Jo with a last name that starts with a V. Pace might be a married name...

Was the ring found in Texas? There are several other Brownsvilles in the country.
Does Palmetto appear anywhere on the ring?
If you join Classmates.com you can probably find a copy of the Yearbook.

Update
The reasons i am 99.9% sure it is the Texas one are:
Palm tree on center of stone (school was known for palmetto palm trees and the yearbook was also called 'The Palmetto').
Eagle on one side (school team eagles)
Star on the other side (lone star state)
Got my hands on the 1955 yearbook from said school after going on ancestry and just trying first letter (M) of first name and starting to plug in random (sort of) last names that start with a V. (Initials MJV)
Found no person with those initials in the year book. Possible candidates were (no middle name shown) then cross referenced on ancestry for more information.
I have at this point done everything i know how to do so if anyone else has any other suggestions i would appreciate it. Obviously flyer and craigslist were already done first.
Ring was found in Oakland, CA.

1940, 50, and 60 Brownsville census records maybe? Last names starting with V are not real common. You might find someone with those initials that still lived there at that time. Might give you a name to investigate.

Went from 30 to 60. On the border with Mexico so plenty of V's. (Vargas, Valdez, Vega... etc)
Also plastered a message on the Brownsville high school.org page 😂😂😂
Im at a loss at this point.
