The three detectateers were out today and were satisfied with the outcome. Kyles been talking about a certain area that we've driven by before on the way to another productive spot. We finally decided to pursue this site with a sunday detectathon. After I once again secured permission with the landowner we began. The site dates back to the late 1700's so we were hopeful. A large grassy field was in front of our jibs. A couple of wheaties were found by me and were pressing heavily on my brain. I began to get troubled. Not only that but my Vibraprobe began malfunctioning. It wasn't the battery because I tried Kyles battery and it still didn't work. Needless to say I taught it a lesson it won't soon forget. I broke it in half. It is now showing no vital signs so I will have to get another this week. It was many years old so oh well. The rest of the hunt was without pinpointer which sucked because I really rely alot on them. I did detect about 17 years without one so it was like going back in time. As it turned out I went back 204 years because about an hour later I found an 1804 draped bust halfie in great shape. It was 8 inches deep and a nice signal in very dry ground so don't let anyone tell you that analog detectors don't go deep enough. I love my XL Pro ! I also found a nice shankless silver plated colonial button. My partners were similarly endowed for the day but I won't steal their thunder. Thanks everyone for sharing this post and I can't wait for the next one.

We have one and don't really use it - we like the white's pinpointer better.
That is an awesome find.
