The three detectateers were out today and were satisfied with the outcome. Kyles been talking about a certain area that we've driven by before on the way to another productive spot. We finally decided to pursue this site with a sunday detectathon. After I once again secured permission with the landowner we began. The site dates back to the late 1700's so we were hopeful. A large grassy field was in front of our jibs. A couple of wheaties were found by me and were pressing heavily on my brain. I began to get troubled. Not only that but my Vibraprobe began malfunctioning. It wasn't the battery because I tried Kyles battery and it still didn't work. Needless to say I taught it a lesson it won't soon forget. I broke it in half. It is now showing no vital signs so I will have to get another this week. It was many years old so oh well. The rest of the hunt was without pinpointer which sucked because I really rely alot on them. I did detect about 17 years without one so it was like going back in time. As it turned out I went back 204 years because about an hour later I found an 1804 draped bust halfie in great shape. It was 8 inches deep and a nice signal in very dry ground so don't let anyone tell you that analog detectors don't go deep enough. I love my XL Pro ! I also found a nice shankless silver plated colonial button. My partners were similarly endowed for the day but I won't steal their thunder. Thanks everyone for sharing this post and I can't wait for the next one.

Wow Chris, that is a nice Half Cent. :icon_sunny:

You probably are better off without that vibraprobe. ;D We have one and don't really use it - we like the white's pinpointer better.

Bob
Thanks Bob, It is one of my better finds this year to date.

Chris that is one BEAUTIFUL lady !!!!!!!!!! :occasion14: :headbang: :occasion14: Other then the standard buried for 203 years embedded dirt it is a GREAT halfie :icon_thumright: For me they are much harded to find ... Heck I only have 3 compared to 100+ Lg Cents.

I hope your next pinpointer gives you many many years of pinpointed Colonial coinage :icon_thumright:

HEY CHRIS ........SWEET DETAIL ON THE HALF CENT.........BEST LOOKING ONE I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE, FOOOOWSURE.....PACO

Sounds like you and your team had a GREAT day!

That's a pretty Green halfie there. Well done.

You guys got some Serious datectin done there. Makes me happy to see your post. We haven't hunted in coming up on three weeks because of the heat--and there hasn't been any rain here to amount to anything for a month. :-\ The ground is like concrete.

I didn't use a pinpointer until this year. ;D And I prolly wouldn't break mine in half--but I might throw it under my buddy's searchcoil. :D

Hey Derek........Half cents are few and far between which makes you appreciate the day you find another. That pinpointer really cut out on me at the wrong time but I seem to have made the best of it regardless. Sunday can't get here soon enough.
