!!EERIE NEW INFO!! Turn of Century Amusement Park Silver & more
(THERE APPEARS TO BE AN IMAGE OF A PERSON ON THE LEFT SIDE OF STONE!!)
Earthworks and I got out to a new site for us -- an old amusement park that operated for 30 years from 1894 to 1924. Reports told us that they would get up to 15,000 people per day at times. We knew the site has been hunted, but we went for it anyway. Pretty brutal conditions this time of year with heavy foliage, poisen ivy, ticks, etc...My very first signal I dug was this 1889 Indian Head, so we were fired up. We found all these great bottles pictured and I found endless numbers of golf balls from the nearby course. I filled my pockets several times over and could not come close to picking them all up unless I wanted to stop detecting, literally a few hundred balls were there, most in very nice shape (I know they are worth some money, but we were on a silver hunt :-). Next thing I get a text message from Earthworks...says "1912 Barber Dime!" -- sweet. Check out the shape it's in, very nice one. He also got a 1918 wheatie. Then my last good find was this very cool woman's hair pin/holder, silver with a pink stone in the middle. How's this for an amazing coincidence...patent date on it is August 13, 1907, almost exactly 100 years ago and it's my wife's birthday (not the year of course :-). Check out the great job Earthworks did of cleaning it up from the before and after photos, looks fantastic. Thanks to him for the photos as well. A great day!
