the stack of skulls and body "parts" in the second photograph and the dead man in the devils den -- should remind of of the cost of freedom and trhe horrors of war

Great pics!

It's amazing how little some of those places have changed!

Re: Eerie Old Photos & New Ones of Exact Same Place

i always enjoy before/after photos with huge differences in time. a more recent example is a man who created a web site on the steve mcqueen movie, bullitt, which was filmed in san francisco in the mid 1960's or 1968. he took still photos of all the scenes that he could from the movie and then went around san francisco & took photos again at the same spots.. then put them side by side in his website. pretty cool. like where "inspector bullitt" lived... the movie shows him walking into the building but first stopping at the little corner grocery store & buying something. in the photos of today, 40 years later, that little store is still there and the house is, too, with only a new color paint job as a difference. of course, the older the photos, the better. but 40 years is enough to look for differences like ... is the telephone pole still there or is that tree still there?

by the way, i'm in near san francisco... anyone else want to go MDing?

Cool photos!! And a great idea to do the "before & after".

Love the pictures of the breastworks!
