EE's February thread, Silver.... will you be my Valentine?

6 Boxes of halves due this Friday, possibly some extra halves out of a pick up banks machine.

Auction on Friday shows some silver and gold jewelry, possibly a sterling platter, with tea/cream and salt pepper shakers, likely plated though and it seems a couple coins that I could not make out.

Auction on Saturday has 9 halves, all 40% that I will go for plus some misc rings etc that could or could not pan out. I figure a 30 miles drive out there wont be too bad.

The lake would be frozen though.

The lake is frozen. That was me on the ice when I posted. 12 inches of ice. -_-

Wow, Sunday was bad lol.

Get down to the lake, get everything put in the boat, ready to launch it.. wait.. where is the boat key at? Son of a Barber, I left it at home. Drive 44 miles back home, grab the key, drive to a closer spot, about 30 miles away launch the boat and attempt to find bait. Search multiple areas, cant find anything so I headed up river to the spot I was originally going to put in and check out different spots with the side scan and mess with the GPS navigation. Get to the spot, get no bites at all but run into the guy who I bought the finder from. He hooks me up with some fresh bait, I finally get a bite but the fish doesnt hook itself.

After a while I head back down toward where I put in trying different spots, Finally found a little bait, some 2-3 in shad ( I prefer 6 to 15 inch shad ) and put out some lines, didnt catch anything but I did learn quite a bit about my new finder which was my main goal though I would have loved to land a fish. I spent about $30 in gas on Sunday.

As for CRH....

2 Boxes due Wednesday, only 3 due on Friday since one bank forgot to order. I might make a trip out to visit my special bank that has produced every time I have gone out to pick up CWR's. I will likely save them not for this Saturday but next Saturday because I am having the bank that missed my order pick up an extra box for me for the next 2 weeks in a row and I will have issues getting rid of them otherwise. That will make March a 34 box month for me which means, I might find 2.5 ounces of silver! :D

This month is on path for being my worst ever.

As for Auction on Friday, it lists some jewlery so who knows, I will head out as always and look and see. Pictures to come on Wednesday when they are put up.

Man, I'm trying not to laugh, but I have been there, it's been many years but, I remember forgeting the key for our boat a couple of times. How about getting out to the middle of the lake, stopping and realizing ( as there is water begining to come from the bottom of the in board out board engine cover) that you forgot to put the plug in! Yup, me, and I did that twice if you can belive it, as we are scrambling all over the boat to find it before we sink! Talk about getting a rashin of crap my wife, lol.

Good luck with the boxes, hope you find something. Maybe the auction is going to have something good this week for you! HH, Maverick.

Well, the air temps dropped like a stone over yesterday to today and that flared up my TMJ and I begun popping my jaw, uncontrollably over night. I got zero sleep, been up since 5:30am yesterday morning. This morning at work, to stop myself from doing the jaw pop madness, I clenched my teeth and I guess I went a little too hard trying to stop the pain of the TMJ and the popping that I broke a tooth in half so.. left work and went and got the tooth looked at and after deciding between a $1400+ crown or having it pulled for $65, I had it pulled.

So.. after waiting for 2 hours behind some inmates from our local jail, I got my turn in the chair. First round of numbing shots didnt numb the tooth. Second round of deeper shots didnt numb the tooth. Third and very painful round of shots didnt numb the tooth so... it was extracted with little relief from the pain. Areas around the tooth were numb but the nerve to the tooth stayed active. Talk about an interesting sensation.

So passing a kidney stone is still tops in the pain field with having a tooth extracted with no pain killers a very close second and shingles in third, fourth out be a tie between dislocated jaw with hairline fracture ( where I got my TMJ ) and nose being broken ( happened along side the dislocated and fractured jaw ). Natalie Portman breaking my heart comes in 5th.

As for my boxes, I grabbed them today since I was not going back to work.

Box 1: 3/40% halves
Box 2: Skunked

So.. I have a dilemma. I got a letter in the mail today, no.. its not Natalie Portman wanting to get back together ( though I wish that was the case ) but it was a letter letting me know that there is a rather large coin auction going on it town on Sunday that I was apparently not aware of.

The problem is, I was going to go fishing on Sunday, its supposed to be in the mid 50's. I might go Saturday instead though the low is going to be mid 20's with the high struggling to pass 40 degrees.

So onto the list of coins, Bold are the coins I am interested in. Some future research is in order on a few items but this is a quick glance over.

I am currently 0.0886 oz away from passing my worst month ever for MWR halves at 2.5868 oz found in June of 2012. Three boxes to go on Friday.

Hey EE, I've haven't really had time to respond here but, holy cow! What a day, I've had my bad days but, wow! Sorry to hear all that you had to go through, I've been in the chair having a tooth pulled 2 times, it sucks! I had a Sinus a exposure both times, talk about pain and misery, a Sinus exposure is when the roots of your tooth are so long that they are actually grown into your Sinus cavity, so when they pulled the tooth out it left a hole basically between my upper jaw bone and my sinus, so when I was in the chair the dentist keep pinching my nose off and telling me to blow through my nose, when i was doing that there was air bubbles coming from my upper jaw where he pulled the tooth out. So anyway, it healed after a long 2 weeks of no sneezing or drinking through a straw or bending over ect. ect.

Now, the Kidney stone, been there too, the most God awfull pain I have ever experinced, they say it is equivelint of child birth, I don't know that, but it was the worst I have ever experienced, at least till the Dr. gave me a script for Oxycodone, those would take the edge off.

3 40's out of 1 box is pretty good!
I don't know what to tell ya on the delima with the auction and fishing, thats a lot of coins to sit through being bid on, I guess it's going to be what you will get the most enjoyment out of ( fishing maybe, lol), Good luck either way EE! HH, Maverick.

I have been told from women that they would sooner give birth than pass a stone so it must be worse. I have passed 5 stones. 2 with meds and 3 without, one smaller one I passed while working the day through on the torch lol.. fun :D

[uote]3 40's out of 1 box is pretty good![/QUOTE]

3/40% halves out a box isnt bad but its taking 2 boxes of halves to find a single 40% half right now, that is horrible compared to last year, which saw me averaging three 40% halves and one 90% half for every 2 boxes I purchased. This year I am averaging 1.2 40% halves for every 2 boxes and 1 90% per 13 boxes.

I don't know what to tell ya on the delima with the auction and fishing, thats a lot of coins to sit through being bid on, I guess it's going to be what you will get the most enjoyment out of ( fishing maybe, lol), Good luck either way EE! HH, Maverick.

The auction will only take 2 hours or so, maybe 3 tops. It goes pretty quick. As for the fishing, that is out of the question for me now, we had a big snow storm move through, dumped about a foot of snow and ice and more to come tonight. My boat wont be thawed so it wont be going out until next weekend. I also got sent home after 3 hours today because of the weather so I will be working Saturday. We have a large unit that is due to ship on the 8th and I finally got it programmed so it still needs to be cut, punched, deburred, rolled, drilled, welded, assembled and painted... doubt it will happen in time since we are pretty behind. Might be looking at a bit of over time in March, could use the funds.

Got off work, drove 30 miles to my pick up city. Dumped some halves, went to my pick up bank, they were closed, the closed at 3pm because of the snow storm that hit yesterday. I work tomorrow to make up for the time missed on Thursday so hopefully my mom will be able to pick up my halves for me otherwise I will have to pick up $3,000 worth next Friday.

Tomorrow after work, I will be heading out to pick up whatever one CWR bank has in their coin bag on my way to a seminar in KC, they have paid out both times I have gone, hopefully they do again, its been nearly 3 months since I have been up there.

Auction tonight didnt pan out, nothing there worth my time.

Coin auction Sunday

Coin Dump and CWR Nickel/Dimes on Monday to close out the month.

Hey EE, well, that sucks, sorry you didn't get your halves. Nothing on the auction either, dang! Maybe KC will have something good for you, 3 months since last visit and all, they may have something just sitting in that bag for you! Good luck at Sundays auction! On a side note, I had a few really good boxes this week, I know they will make you sick to see (lol), but, I put up a lot of pics for everyone on my thread. Really hope that bag pans out for you, I'd like to see you be able to post a great find! HH, Maverick.

Got my final 3 boxes of the month, just got finished with them though I have had them for about 7 hours now. Decided to hit up the dam since I heard they were running the water and generators, they shut them down on my way there but it was nice to get outside for a bit.

Now to the boxes.

As stated earlier, I was about .08 away from my worst month ever in boxes of halves. Its been pretty much horrible since June of last year for me so I was not sure if I could make it this month, luckily things worked out.

Auction is done and over with. Ran into the father of one of the guys from the local coin shop. We sometimes go out and hit auctions together so this is not totally uncommon. He picked up bags and bags of junk silver for some good prices, about 19x face.

As for me, here is what I picked up.

Sterling Heart/lock Pendent $1 for 0.0555 oz of silver
Sterling Mexican shield broach and ear rings $1.50 for .2498 oz
16 war nickels for $16, 0.9008 oz
1 Rosie for $2, 0.0723 oz
2 Swedish Krona for $4, .1800 oz
Swiss 2 Franc coin, $7, .2684 oz
Swiss 1 Franc coin $2, .1342 oz
Swiss 1/2 Franc $2, .0671 oz
40% Silver Clad 1976 Quarter $2, .0739

Overall I paid a total of $37.50 for 2.0020 oz of silver

I also purchased some BU dollar coins for a dollar each, will be putting them into circulation soon.

Picked up 112 pre 60 nickels for $5, made 60 cents on them and who knows, might have a nice variety or error in there someplace, I need to check them out.

Picked up $2.60 Canadian for $1. I will get to visit the great white north for next to nothing someday.

Picked up a Spanish coin for $1 just because it had a cool clipper ship on it.

Sometime next week I meet up with a guy who wants to sell a few gold rings and broken necklaces and I also have a friend who wants to sell me a couple gold rings so it looks like my goal total will be jumping up a little in the next couple weeks.

Dropped off $1000 in halves and grabbed $605 in dimes or 121 rolls today, skunked.

Blizzard is due tomorrow, anywhere from 6-18 inches of snow, depending on the channel and their model. Depending on if I get a call saying work is canceled for tomorrow I may go try to dump my $500 in halves I still have and the $605 in dimes and hit my pick up banks in the afternoon and grab the $3500 in halves I have waiting for Friday and do those and get them out of the way. It will let me get an extra hour in at work as well, cant hurt to have an extra hour of pay.

While at the store stocking up for food, saw a lady using the coinstar. Asked her if she would mind if I pay her for any coins the machine spits out, she said I didnt have to pay for them, she said she has made enough money from the 2 years worth of change. I still paid $2.50 for the $2.40 in dimes and pennies and 1 Mexican coin. No silver but I did finally cull my first steel penny from circulation lol.

Weather permitting I may have more for the this month.

1925 Spain 25 centimos- $0.75 (copper-nickel)
1965-U Sweden 1 krona- $2.75
1965-B Switzerland 2 francs- $10
1929-B Switzerland 1/2 franc- worth melt

What are the dates of the other foreigns?
