Headed out to a place I have been many times and have been successful but I knew I was about to hunt this water location out. I hit several of my areas that I have found countless coins, civil war and colonial artifacts. I was about 3/4 through my hunt and I had accepted the fact that I may be skunked. I decided to hit one last area and boy am I glad I did. I started off finding a Indian head penny and part of a colonial shoe buckle. Then I discovered a little spill of dropped sharps bullets. Then I got my first silver a small reale. Now things are picking up and it looks like I am going to have a decent day. I then pull up another reale little did I know it was a 1602 hammered silver! (I cant see up close so I thought it was just another normal reale). I go on to find another buckle and more bullets. I did not realize the date until I got back to the boat and did not know the type of coin until I talked to my friend Dan Frezza. I had never found this type of coin!! It is now my oldest coin found! All in all it was far from a skunk! (Video here - )

Big Congrats , your hammered is seldom found this side of the Atlantic as you well know , old stuff for USA !

Amazing finds the history you have there is amazing Ive been putting together display cases for the last couple years my oldest coin an 1886 Canadian quarter beat today by a 18 9? nickel. Those are amazing I wish I had that kind of history here in MI Thank you for sharing your finds, Great!!!!!!!!!

Omg! What a coin! Big congratulation! What a find!

I'm so happy you found that sweeeet Lizzy, but I would be lying if I didn't admit I'm completely jealous. Wow! Simply amazing. That's on the TOP 3 of my list next to a Mass silver and a disme. Huge congrats and I'm really happy you found such an amazing coin.

I am looking for that 8 reale myself!

BOY HOWDY! What a fantastic hunt. Amazing getting a hammered this side of the pond. A reale, Indian, and a bunch of cool old relics ROCKS!:headbang: Loved the enthusiasm in your video as well. Tom Sawyer & Huck Fin would be right at home with you mate.:icon_thumright:

I am looking for that 8 reale myself!

I've found and 8-r and an equivalent frenchie 5-f, but nothing that comes close to that hammered English. It's such a strange hobby that we all want what each other has found. One coin seemingly easier to find than the other, yet we're all left wanting! Lol

I'm casting a banner on this one. Congrats again

Very awesome saves you have. So many different pieces of history and great silver to boot!:occasion14:

A dream come true with that awesome coin.
Congrats

Large number of years covered during this hunt. You found a real time machine. Congratulations.

WELL DONE.

I don't have the size but I'm pretty sure what it is.
1602 was the last coin date in Lizzy's reign.
Pretty sure its a mint-mark '2' of her final 7th Issue.

It's amazing that something so thin, torn, folded and worn can be so beautiful, congrats on your hammered silver and the reale. The sterling belt slide isn't a shabby either, you sir had yourself one great day out!

super awesome! what a find/finds! congrats

WOW, watching that video reminded me of the SuperBowl. You think you're going to get skunked then you have a comeback moment to win the day. 1602 hammered coin.... Congrats to you Mister.

One of the few. Not many are ever going to dig those here in the USA. Congrats. I have one on my list but it'll be tough.

You never disappoint with your posts my friend. That's quite an accomplishment in the states. Congrats on a coin that few of us will ever find. I know BillD has a bunch from an early site. I believe his are 1500s and 1600s. My buddy here in Maine found a cut piece. But that's about all I know of. Great job Gig. You are very good at what you do
