Even had a tough time coming up with a title for this one. This is one very unusual piece. A buddy found it at a street tearout in a Minnesota river town dating back to the 2nd half of the 19th century. It is either copper or brass, and has what seems to be a very interesting and unusual scene embossed in it.

It seems to have been attached to something by some iron rivets(?) along the lower edge.

We are wondering not only what it was, but hopefully to learn what story is being depicted by the figures. Notice the little house at the top, and what appears to be swords in the hands of some of the apparently male figures. Some sort of battle or massacre going on, perhaps?

I will update this when I get an answer from my buddy, but as I recall, it was maybe 6"-8" long and 3" tall.

Antique ice skates made of wood and steel with brass decorative trim.
The stamped brass trim accent is very detailed and shows a winter scene with figures walking, skating, falling down, plus dogs and trees with a log cabin in the distance. The dress is very old fashioned, probably Victorian era.
The skates are quite old. The wooden part is 8 1/2" long, probably ladies' skates.

That's just for great finds.. thank you though! But I also should say that NHBenZ deserves a lot of the credit for figuring this out. Without him coming up with the Ice Skating theme I never would have found the skate.

I should have put that in my post but I was in a rush.

You can rate this thread under "Rate This Thread". I rated it as excellent because its a good example of team work. My first impression was that it was not solvable. But everyone adds their observations and opinions and in the end its surprisingly solved. Thats how the system works.
