Actually found this several days ago in change. I thought it was one of the new nickels but later thought more of what I had seen and was gonna look again. But I had to re find it. Turned up in a large cup and it is definitely not one of those new ones. Lookung for an opinion as I know nothing about error coins.

That’s one F’d up looking nickel....
The reverse tells me that it’s not tampered with, like post mint damage....
An extreme case of “grease filled die”?....
Very cool, and I hope the coin guys chime in. Ya might want to post better pics, if you can....
Be careful though, some of the coin “experts”can be kinda condescending.

I think it's a legitimate error, the reverse seems find, so that makes me think the MINT DID IT!

Working with a blasted phone camera lol. It is odd. If it were polished so it would have taken a lot of work.

That would be cool! I'll try to get a better photo.
The back does not seemed damaged in a way to suggest someone did this on purpose.
But who knows.

I'm not understanding why everyone thinks it's not pmd just because the reverse is normal. Without better pics I can't imput one way or the other.

I use a android to view the site. When I press photos in a post they are loaded in the original size. Not sure how it appears on a computer as I don't currently have a computer online. When U click the tiny photo I see ut much better and can enlarge the image in the post without downloading. Maybe I can try getting closer to the coin.
If all that can be seen is the small image in the post it would be hard to tell anything.

What does it weigh?
Does it seem thinner than normal nickels?

As stated better pictures are a must, an accurate weight as well. Definitely some evidence of post mint damage, but more info is needed.

Hard to say without better pics but to hazard a guess, I would say a case of road rage. In other words, while the Reverse likely stayed in the up position towards the sky, the Obverse apparently was in the down position and ran over by several vehicles.
