My saying that a dowser can't pass a double blind test it akin to saying the sun will rise tomorrow morning.

I personally think SS's testing idea has a lot of merit. It may not be a double blind study, but I think it can tell us a lot. But again, we have to come up with a fair process to execute it.

Here's a fair test for you. Do or not as you choose. Have one or two dowsers meet one or two sceptics at a neutral spot where digging is permitted. Each side could take turns. Have the dowsers dowse and dig and have the sceptics random guess and dig. Each hole is rated empty or good. Compare results and post them. There would be no possibility of cheating, no possibility of fraud and a hell of an opportunity for put up or shut up for both sides. siegfried schlagrule

This is the way that things were straightened out years ago. A few years ago myself and a few people met at a location. Some used metal detectors and other gold locating devices…We all had a good time and enjoyed some beer around the camp fire and exchanged stories about our day. I have hunted deer, fished, mined for gold, raced dirt bikes and many other things with people from all walks of life and we all had fun. So is there any reason why Treasure Hunters can’t do this?...Art

I think it's a hell of an idea, Art. I'd personally love to try something like this out.

I tend to get hung up on the little things, and have a hard time moving on until those have been sorted out. I have a perfectionist streak a mile wide, and I let it get the better of me sometimes.

No way known would I hop in my Toyota L/cruiser and drive half way across the state to assist a desperate farmer find water when according to scientific stastitics I might have to wait another 1 -4 years for good dowsing weather.If I could substitute the magnetic flux derived from the sun which powers my rod, things would be so different.
No one can beat Carl . Randy or anyone else to prove dowsing exists except in the middle of a solar storm , and we havnt had one aimed at Earth since June 2004 and it was only of a few hours duration. It used to be beaut dowsing without power, as I didnt know any difference and was sort of like a virgin having a good time out in the bush. I never used to find anything but still had a good time. Now when I have many sites ready for investigating, it has become a waiting game.

Here's something else that would haunt me, ......if I were you, playing the waiting game; What if by chance, your theory of where the power comes from was in error, and you could have been dowsing all these years you've spent waiting? That thought ever cross your mind, especially in light of the fact that there must be thousands of dowsers going about their practice every day, and at least in their mind, are quite successful at what they are doing?

You see Jerry…I have no doubt about Max’s theory. I have experimented with it and find that it is of help to me. I have tried Max’s rod and find that it is very powerful. I am not going to wait for the solar storms but I am not Max. If he believes he has to wait then he will have to wait. We understand the way dowsing works. I guess it is just to simple for some people understand…Art

Jerry, I would give almost anything to find another source of power is responsible for dowsing. 24 years of experience plus a dowser in Utah whom I taught to dowse my way, had identical dowsing experiences during solar storms.
I did confirm off him that you get stronger dowsing signals up north when mild solar storms occur.
Canada is a good example of the Northern hemisphere being more suscepticle to solar storms.

Being as far south as you can get in southern Australia I need a little more power than say in the USA.

In fact we used to cross check long range dowsing of each others photos of jesuit sites. We have both been waiting since the middle of 2004 to continue. An elusive skill relying on atmospheric conditions is damn hard to prove to the disbeliever, even if he be only mildly sceptical such as as Carl..
Jerry , as far as passing on my info to a younger generation, they would think I was crazy. They wouldnt even give up their telly seats and look at obvious evidence.

Every day we are told how great Double Blind tests are. Almost every day we are told that some drug that passed a Double Blind test is killing people. Every day we are told facts about dowsing with no proof. Every day we are told that we are idiots and don’t know what we know. Every day what we post is twisted and spun so you can not tell what was posted in the first place. Every day some one new makes a post and is attacked. Every day there are many post that provide no information to those that are interested in dowsing. Every day I answer questions as I understand them. Every day I try to give answers that I think will help dowsers.

Some days I feel I have accomplished nothing. Some days I feel good about my answers. Some days I think that skeptics have accomplished a little. Some days I think that I should let the people who know nothing about dowsing have this forum. Some days I get tired of answering the same old stupid questions. Some days I think I should just give up.

Every day I know that I am a dowser and that I am one of the many that read this forum. Every day I know that many people come to this forum for information about dowsing. Every day I feel sorry that they are denied the opportunity to find out about dowsing.
Every day I feel that the false information may be keeping some one from learning.

Every day I will tell all that will listen that dowsing is real and will always be real despite those that seek to discredit and deceive people about the real facts. You see that I know dowsing works and no amount of false information or how many post they put on the forum will change my knowledge….Art

It's pretty close-minded of you to consider all the information brought here by the skeptics to be "joke answers."

It's odd how dowsers want the skeptics to answer the question, Why Does Dowsing Work, when the dowsers can't provide these answers for themselves.

Everytime a dowser does attempt to answer this question, it is pseudo-science and/or completely incorrect science they use, which is quickly shot down by rational thinkers.

I challenge you to find a single fact, presented by a dowser, that somehow proves the existance of dowsing....

Please keep in mind that any fact needs to be verifiable by an unbiased third party, so don't post a link to a dowsing newsletter and call it a fact.
