Excal for land?

Does anybody have experience using an Excaliber II on land? I have 2 other detectors for land but have 2 friends that don't have detectors that want to join me. I thought that i would try the excal. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks

All the Excalibur's usually hardwired for water hunting, unless modded , You can use them on land , better at the beach , The Ctx3030 , Manticore , or Deus 2 would be better for both land & sea , however if your buddies want to go , let them use your land machines & you can use the Excalibur , might be time to upgrade , sell your other land machines to the boys , get a high end land , keep the Excalibur for beach & water , happy hunting , Earl

Positives for using the Excal on land:
It has discrimination and good depth
Iron rejection is pretty good
EMI rejection is better than average
Negatives for using it:
Heavy and not very ergonomic unless you chest or hip mount it.
No target I.D.
No depth meter.
No adjustable ground balance (not usually a big deal in most places)
Unless modified, having to fiddle with toggling from all metal (pin point) to discrimination is a pain.
Not easy to swap headphones or coils.
Just so-so on tiny targets such as small link chains and stud earrings.
No noise cancel for bad EMI

They work great on land, I did it for couple years, before getting a lighter minelab for land , Safari, Sovereign GT then E-Trac. The problem is they are pretty heavy for land use, adding the straight shaft makes it harder if your hunting woods or land with lot of brush.

Thanks for your advice. I love the Excal for water but my water hunting has been limited by my home dialysis. I can't get my port site wet in fresh water. I can hunt in salt water but live a good ways from the ocean.

Best thing about Excal on land is you only dig iron if you want too.
