after months of reading and talking to others I finally got my excall ll , one of the concerns I had was complaints of the headphones. I figurged how bad could they be...... They are horrible can't wait till the warrenty runs out so I can make some modifications . Till the any suggestions would be appreciated . They will not make a good seal a lot of out side noise comes in . My olg garrett blue u/w headphone were great ! Thanks in advance

Gel Ear Seals will really help with the factory headphones. I liked them so much they are now on all of my headphones, even my high dollar after markets.

Can slaw is correct...... If you change headphones you want to go inside to do it and you will most likely need to add diode...... I would get the earseals first.....

thanks will order seals look like a winner !

Burl,
I see you also have a Sea Hunter, I put the ear seals on my SH as well, a nice improvement on what were decent headphones

I know what you mean. Waiting till March for my warranty to run out. Didn't know about the gel. Want to get the MGM phones. Not quite sure how to go about it.

I'm in the process of designing some headphones just for the excalibur. Underwater speakered headphones, they use the same speakers as the Killer Bee's, Sunray Pro Golds, and Blackwidows, the audiosears 2663 150 ohm. And they are 100% waterproof. All is still in the works but these will come easy to install endcap to headphones, and if you have to send your machine back in, just reinstall the old koss yellows. Minelabs will not work on any machine unless they are original...... also these come with the gelseals as a Op....All underwater aftermarket headphones come Piezo bendders, they work good but don't have the rich audio of land speakered handphones.......these do...Skullies

Thanks Midas, will do buddy. what do you think about this
Right now there is a problem....I spent the weekend testing two sets, before I send them out to a friend for testing. I have a killer setup for the AM/PP hunter who seeks the faintest faints of the PP mode, tested the db's with a sound meter..117, unheard of..but the tones in discriminate...bad, these are almost as loud as my Doc's amped set............ Now the other set with the waterproof audiosears speakers, nice and perfect tones, you can even tell the difference between 1982 down pennies from the newer. db's 90 but they are not as good for the faints in PP. I did get a chance to test the audio on a set of GGUW's on a CTX on a Target..87 to 85db's jumping because of the bad zincon, not bad either. More testing this weekend, got in some Kobitone's, like used on the ratphones, along with a few other types..more testing...

So my question is, what are the excalibur hunters looking for? the ability to cherry pick the targets with the great tones or some all out screamers to hear every little disruption, and dig everything in discriminate because the audio is not as detailed, hi pitched. And I have tried mixing, the tubed piezo overruns the speaker.

For my application it would be cherry picking - if I was looking for depth I would be using the DF pulse machine.

You are quite welcome. Glad to be able to pass on helpful information.

I got a pair of those CS. I also liked those boot blosers to keep the sand out.... been using them a year now.

Joe outstanding 90db. The tone has to be great..... are you saying they loose some of the 90dbs when you switch to PP giving you less dbs? How about a video with the sound difference between the 2.

Can Slaw- This may be a dumb question but did the Gel Ear Seals from the company you linked fit your Excal? I bought two pairs and they seem too small. I didn't see any sizes on the web site and assumed they would fit the Excal since that was the focus of the thread. Maybe I am doing something wrong???

Yes, the link I attached are the same ones I ordered. I attached them using silicone caulking sealant. Mine did not cover the ear holes at all and are working great. On my Sea Hunter they are a tad smaller than the ear cups, but still don't block the speakers and are much more comfortable than the factory ear seals. I doubt if the company is sending a different size now as I think they are all standard size.

I've been using them for 4 years now and used several different ones...I come to the conclusion..none fit like they were made for anything I wear...the stock yellow koss, to the Peltors. They work, you just have to align them to where they don't look to out of place....Also..best to put them on with Aquaseal, they will never fall off. Most of them are made for Dave Clark Aviation headsets. Excep the peltors.

Thanks Can Slaw and OBN. I was trying to stretch the plastic flap over the edge of the stock Excal headphones just like the pair that came with the set do to keep them in place. I wasn't aware you had to use a sealant to hold them on. That makes more sense now. I will get some Aquaseal. Are there different types or is there just one?
