Hi, looking for someone near North Port, florida that would share their knowledge with me as I'm a newbie at this sport. I have a good detector,but would like some pointers on best places to look and how not to waste time on junk. Also are their any clubs near here that share these interests. Thank you, Bradagan1

If you would not waste time on junk go to jewelry store. Detector has limits but can locate what you cannot see. What it is is proven by you recovering it.
When you try to shortcut junk you miss valued material defeating purpose. Find junk ,recover junk. Keep a percentage of junk your looking for.

Welcome to Tnet forums. I don't know what clubs are available to you there but you can learn a lot from the Golden Olde. Norm is no longer with us but his wisdom hangs on.

Gold items are relatively low on the conductivity scale so if you disc out pull tabs you also disc out about 90% of the gold rings. The others are in the foil range. Relevenchair is right about you having to dig all the junk if you want the gold. This is a hobby and if you want a profit for your time, get a part time job at a fast food place.
