I have a little park I've been having some small successes at but there is one field in it I hadn't tried. It was mostly just a filled in area. Near to a railroad track, (usually means a lot of iron debris). Anyway, long story short, it didn't pan out much. A couple interesting whatsits but not much else. :dontknow:

So, I went back over to the park and it still gives me reasons to come back:

At least this one gave me a method to figure out it's identity. :)

This thing reminds me of a lens cap. I thought it was a remnant of a shotgun shell at first.
The edge is ribbed like for gripping. It's not threaded. The little hole in the side puzzles me.
Appears to be brass. Any guesses welcomed.

I thought this was a 1/2 ounce fishing weight but it only weighs about a third of an ounce.
Appears to be lead but it also seems kind of light for it's size. :dontknow:

Being near the tracks, my first impression was some sort of flattened coin. But, I have doubts.

Seemed a bit too soft and lead like. You can see where Blingie nibbled on it, kind of silvery inside. :dontknow:

The clad was still there.

George to the rescue and it was the very LAST find of the hunt.

I was swinging just about grass top level so this signal rang in at a full 8 inches down!
(Wasn't someone asking for proof that the AT-Pro can hit deep silver? :icon_scratch: )

Have I said before that this sight just NEVER gets old? ;)

And, here he is after his bath.

After getting almost EVERY single 1965 quarter ever minted, I finally, FINALLY, found my very first 1964 quarter!

Not too shabby for an experimental hunt, even if I do say. ;)

Thanks for peeking!

Congrats on your finds. And i would continue to go back to that spot.

Nice work! Did it ring in clear at that depth or was it bouncy?

nice finds man

that gear is out of a clock it held a spring

Great finds! My best things come from the places that most people would never dream of hunting. I guess that's why they are still there!

It actually gave me a nice little 86 and bounced up to 91 a couple times. I was pleasantly surprised. :)

Thanks!

I thought that too. But, the edge doesn't look like a "gear" per se. Even a finely toothed one. It looked more like ribbed for ease of gripping. But, your guess is certainly in the running.

Thanks!

Way to stick with it and pull some silver... Congrats :icon_thumright:

Anyone know that the fishing weight looking thing, really is a fishing weight? :icon_scratch:

That's a very nice Washington you found.. Congrats on the success and thanks for sharing..

Congrats on the 1964!

Gear thing looks like the insides from a watch. This is the insert which houses the gears that move the hands. It then goes into a watch casing (the part that has the watch back and face). Just my opinion.

Nice hunt, overall!
