Hello from snowy Michigan. I hope everyone's holiday week was good. I went out of town for thanksgiving, to my Dad's in northern Michigan and had a fun few days away.

I managed to get out for two rainy and cold hunts in the past week or so and didn't have too much luck, but a little. I am thinking this will be my last post of the 2007 season for Today's Finds as it looks like winter is setting in this week, snow and cold temps, especially at night, should freeze the ground. Oh well, it was a very good season for me, by far my best ever. Thanks to all my friends here for the inspiration and motivation as that is why this year was so good.

I searched for about 5 hours total at a local schoolyard the first day and then 4 parks further away from home the other day. I mangaed three little keepers all sterling. An old ring missing it's stone and a St. Christopher's medallian from the parks and a "J" pendant filled with CZ's from the schoolyard. I only found a little over 100 coins so I guess I am going to come less then 200 short of 10,000 coins for the season. I was glad to get out for one last hunt and then glad to get home and dry off, warm up ;D

At the schoolyard I found a disturbing find in the woodchips by the swings. It was an exploaded rifle bullet shell. Dang, I hope no one got hurt. It looks like something pretty violent happened to it. I can not imagine it was in a gun when this happened but who knows.

Thanks for reading and happy hunting and happy holidays to you all!!
Here's all my finds from these two hunts.
The keepers are in the bottom left as usual.

Smiles!

Thanks for sharing your story and the splendid finds that you found. All of the bullet casings I have found that look like the one you found came to be by a fire or overheating some kind of way.

HH and Good Luck.

thanks Ant. I think I agree with you guys, definitely looks like a fire did it but who's to know for sure. An interesting find, I'll take it... and get it out of the woodchips. It was about 4 inches down at least. Maybe it was in the woods, in a fire, then went through the woodchipper?? ;D ;D
