Results from my last couple of hunts and nothing fantastic, but dug plenty of holes so had the chance. The coppers are not real old, but did include a British Victoria penny which was a first i think. Funny how after so many years even common things still come along that you have not dug before. Other stuff, a tombac bell, 2nd for the year, but hadn't seen one in a very long time before that... button mold which is my 2nd, couple modern Navy buttons, 1700s British navy, jews harp, etc..

Nice buttons and the mold is really cool.

Good hunt and like the other love the button mould/mold! :) Also, agree, it would be cool to find a button that was made from that mould/mold...........

The bell, the jew's harp and the, early navy are good finds in my book. The button mold is great find. What material is it made from, stone? If stone, that was a nice eyeball find.

I'm curious about the button mold. What is it made of and would the one you found be used commercially, one button at a time, or maybe on a homestead? Thanks for any input.

Nice recoveries, especially the mold. I'd guess most people would have thrown it away as a piece of trash!

Just piping in..I was getting ready to tell you just how COOL the button mold was...that is, until I saw everybody else saying the same thing! lol..That is a first for me, I've never seen one! Thanks for sharing...certainly enjoyed it...ddf

That button mold must have been homeade for personal use. I don't see how it could have been very easy to use being so small. What's it made out of? Not doubting you but are you sure its not a piece of lead that someone got bored and hammered a button into? I've just never seen one to compare.

Nice little pile of oldies. Love the bell and buttons. Shouldn't be long before that killer find makes it way under your coil.

Well it could be, but usually random lead is random shapes from being melted, and molds are square, as this one is and so was my last.

Nothing wrong with that picture!!

Shooting for something better in today's picture! I have some ideas so hopefully they work out, and if the best keeper is in IH's pile today, that's still success...... kinda. :laughing7:

That's a great way to kick the fall season off! Didn't expect anything less with you...
