Hey hey diggers!
Another winter passed and detecting season started off with a bang!
I got out for a couple of hours on a site that we ( me and Iron Patch) started hunting last year. It had been previously hunted by others, quite well too, but they sure missed some stuff and some of the better finds were found off the main site around the edges.
Although my finds were few they were certainly good. A bunch of buttons and a couple of coins. Relics were few..consisting of a bent up Jews harp.
Best button of the day for me was a two toned gilt designed button. The pics really don't show the gold on silver in the button but I can assure you its there.
And last but by no means last, the two pennies I found were surprises...two big ole coins left behind.
First was a 1806 British penny and the other was a local penny token.
This rare token is probably one of my best finds to date!
Some of you may remember another example I found about a decade ago...it went to the top of the page.
Great start to 2020! Buttons , coins, and relics...can't wait to get back out and do it again soon!

Iron Horse,

Another great hunt, thank you for sharing. Definitely like your gilded button, it shows well in the grouped picture. The Prince Edward token is also outstanding - do you have any additional information about it beyond what is on your link.

Good luck with your hunts and stay safe. Walt

Very well done mate - congrats on the great finds! :occasion14:

Very cool.
Love the token, never saw one, never heard of one.
My dad was born in Charlottetown.

you know theres plenty of mention of these tokens if you google search " McCausland penny token"
Most of what you see are sales and auction results. All the info on them is brief and repetitive, but it is consistent and tells the basic story.
I appreciate your interest in these wonderful tokens

Really Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Just sent my banner vote in, this should be up top. That's an extraordinarily rare token with some very cool history behind it.

Wow Ironhorse! And the second one you’ve found to boot!

A terrific Canadian artifact. I bow to you sir!

Killer hunt, congrats! :occasion14:

Ironhorse always great to see your posts! That PEI token is awesome. Congrats on all the great finds there and looking forward to seeing what else you dig up this year!

Fantastic finds on a hunted site. Nice cleanup on the button.

Pretty wild token find.
Amazing those previous hunters missed all that.
Congrats

Congrats, ironhorse. Wish I could find one of those, but in OR probably not. :*(
