On occasion I have to ship an eBay package Fedex ground. Back in January I prepared a package ( 10 boxes cookies) and used eBay shipping to print out my label. eBay shipping showed a local print shop as my closest drop off point. I hadn't noticed this place before, but it saved me 5 miles from going to the Fedex Co. owned drop off location. I drove to the print shop and walked in and asked if I could drop off a ground package. The owner tells me only if I buy the shipping from him. I thought he was kidding but he looked at my package and told me sorry but he doesn't work for eBay. I politely told him you are an authorized Fedex drop off location. He told me yep I am but I am not taking eBay packages. So I left and went to the Company location. As I was getting in my car he came to the door and yelled out and you can call Fedex.
Well I did call Fedex thinking they wouldn't do much. I talked to 3 different Managers who called me after my initial call to customer service. They were very nice and taken back by this guys behavior. I found eBay shipping was very important to Fedex. I was told this owner was reprimanded by his account manager. I was also advised not to hesitate going back into the store.
Since March I stopped by 3 times and had to sign a log with the tracking number,my name, and what was in the box. If I said the box contained hard candy he would want to know what kind, how much etc. I played his game because he was wasting his time. I always smiled and thanked him when leaving. Then this past Wednesday he took it to a whole new level. I had an order for Ring Pops the hard candy/lollipop on a ring. This was a large order and the box weighed 25 pounds. Dropped it off went through his routine and left. On Thursday morning my customer contacts me that there is no tracking and did I ship it. I checked tracking which is blank and call the store. He proceeds to tell me the Fedex driver left it and took everything else. He says complain to Fedex as it is not his problem. I knew the driver wouldn't have left this package. Which I did confirm with the driver who picks up at a friends warehouse later in the day. I decided to pickup the package and take it to the fedex Co. Drop off. When I walked in this guy is waiting and I told him I was taking the package. He goes off on me with F bombs etc that as of now I am banned from his store. I told him you couldn't get me upset by wasting time when I made a drop-off so now you hide the package from the driver. Well he then challenges me to open up the package because there isn't hard candy in there. The moron did not know what Ring Pops were. He had opened my package to look inside and took the packing slip out. As I am going out the door he is yelling F eBay and you. Of course by now I am giving him some back and giving him something's to think about. As of Friday Fedex Account Executives are headed to his store next week.

I do not under stand why that after your first trip to his store and it was not good …..WHY DID YOU GO BACK THERE ..I WOULD NOT HAVE .. I would not have trusted him after that …. And you should have not trusted him… All you did was cause your self aggravation and problems ?????????????

I agree that it would be aggravating to deal with the guy. However, the guy is running a FedEx location & is REQUIRED to allow drop offs. Someone needed to make a stand against the guys stupidity. I'm not sure it would have been me but I'm glad someone did.

The digital marketer in me would find out if they are listed online on Google, Yelp, or anywhere else and then blast them with a bunch of fake negative reviews using different accounts/names. Basically like kicking a small business in the nuts. The trained Brazilian Jui-Jutsu fighter in me would have invited the guy out back to settle it. Of course if it were me, I would have given his options to his face. If someone messes with me, it's going to cost them either way.

Yeah, double everything you just said and the BBB would also be notified. What a POS.

What I don't understand is all he had to do is take the package from you and place it where FedEx guy comes by to pickup.

I stood up for the newbie ebayer who might walk into his store and get treated like crap. Remember eBay fedex shipping showed him in my area as the closest drop off. Representing Fedex and treating people like that shouldn't be allowed to go on. I even priced business cards with him to throw him a bone. I tried to buy a box to hold a framed picture and he wanted $18.00 for the box. I have an account with Uline and know what boxes cost. He is just a miserable arrogant person who is going to get punched out one of these days. Retail 101 get people into your store and they might buy something else. I will let everyone know the outcome with Fedex.

I think you showed remarkable restraint. Hopefully FedEx pulls there business from him. What did they have to say about the jerk off opening your package?

Do you think this guy will care if he gets a bad rating on the BBB? I've called the BBB on big companies. You would be surprised at how helpful they suddenly become when that happens. BTW, have you thought of tweeting this as well? If you hash tag his store and fed-ex, it may draw quicker responses from Fed-Ex. THEY will care about their business if this guy doesn't.

Sounds like the guy has an issue with eBay from the way it sounds? Don't know why? I just learned recently the USPS dropoffs get .25 cents for every pre-labeled package they scan, not sure about FedEx though.

Please post the number of the Fed Ex executives as I have had issues here in my town. The local fed ex opened up the box, removed ps games and cash, and left a large kitchen knife in my son's Easter package this year. Fex Ex would do nothing when I called. The USPS smashes everything, so I no longer send anything by mail.

No but I would think the "big company" that he represents would care. Might help in getting them to pull him as a representative because it makes them look real bad. I still say USPS is the way to go even after they took 8 weeks to get a package "returned to sender" recently. That was 1 out of the last 400 maybe where I had a problem. Odds like that I can deal with.

From Fed Ex website-

As a FedEx Authorized ShipCenter owner-operator, you are entitled to receive a quarterly incentive check for shipments dropped off at your location but not billed to your FedEx account number. For example, you receive $1 per FedEx Express® drop-off package, 75 cents per FedEx Ground® drop-off package, 75 cents per FedEx SmartPost® package and $1 per FedEx Return System package.

Please let me know the name and location of this particular store so I know where to avoid.

The police are involved because he removed and I assume destroyed the packing clip.

You need to call and ask for a Supervisor in the USA. They file the original paperwork that gets the ball rolling.

I too use a local print shop as a drop of point for all my FED-X shipments. Around lunch today I drove around to their shipping dock a unloaded two 50 pounders. Been doing it for years. Never a problem and the next morning i get emails telling me they are on their way.

But, I really should say I work for that printing company and fed-x comes by every day on it's route. (I also get all my shipping boxes here too for free. The 2500 envelope carton is just the right size for my recycle shipping)
