I went to a new spot this morning with a friend. The owners said there was a CW camp on the property down by the creek, so we headed down and I found a Spencer bullet and a flat button. My friend found a cool axe head and two horse shoes. We need to get the owners to show us were they think the camp was at! Then we went back to our trusty spot in Winchester. I started finding Burnsides and I thought to myself that there should be some Colts nearby, and the next bullet was a Colt! Here it seems when you find Burnsides you also find Colts. I ended up finding two underwear buttons, the one has (Hill Bro Soldhorn)? On it, anybody good on IDing under buttons? 6 Burnsides, 1 Colt, 1 Spencer, buck and ball, my first Kepi buckle, 1938 Wheatie and a button back. The Calvary Button was my best find for the day! It came in the 50's vdi on the ATPro and realy loud. So I was thinking trash, I put the shovel a few inches down and the plug split open and there layed the button not even an inch in the ground. The backmark reads (Waterbury button Co.) Thanks for looking and HH!!

Nice, how big does the owner think the camp was? I am finding here in SW MO that there were lots of smaller camps, and a large encampment somewhere around where I live. Just gotta find it...

Nice "C" button Ryan. Kinda makes up for the canceled relic hunt I guess!

That C button is nice !

WTG Ryan. That cav. button is a nice one and they are not a common find these days as I found out. WTG, Q.

Thanks guys!

GREAT Cav, and a nice little Kepi buckle. I dug my first one of those last year, believe it or not. Well done.

Yea! They rescheduled it to May but at a new spot? Appleblossum weekend! So I'll miss all that mess!

Thanks Quindy! I think Matt has only dug one or two from this spot, and our friend may have found a few. So there was a lot less of them that's for sure!

Thanks BuckleBoy!! I was almost as excited about the Kepi Buckle as I was about the Calvary button!

Great saves nicely guilded Calvary button and a great axe head ,Ive found quite a few over the past 2 years & cleaning them seems to have become one of my specialties.

Axe heads or buttons? I'm soaking a CW era hatchet i found in vinegar and it doesn't look like the ones I've seen posted after a apple cider vinegar soak. It's been soaking for almost a month now and there is still big globs of rust that won't come off?

I didn't know the soldiers carried wheat pennies lol just kidding love the button Ryan it looks like it was dropped yesterday, congrats on some sweeeeet saves!!!!

True. My first "lettered" button was the coat sized "C" button. Sam found a cuff sized "C" and then yours. Found more eagle "I" buttons than C's.
