Couldn't help myself, had to get out one more time.
My plan was to find 1 keeper, well it turned into more. Started of by finding musket balls. Dropped and shot. Seems they used this hill side as target practice. Was finding alot of smashed ones in the hill.
So I thought where were they shooting from???
Turned around and walked down while I was swinging.
About 50 or so feet down I het this little wisper of a signal. I actually turned down my audio so I could tell the difference between deep and shallow, because of a lot of surface trash. So I dig down a there was a small silver black coin in a hard packed dirt. I thought it was going to be a capped bust.. I like seated though.. So there is my keeper for the day..yay!!!
So with that date I was thinking this place might have been a training camp??? Maybe Ill find a plate?
Well not 10 mins later I get this over load signal..Oh crap my belt buckle.
It was a belt buckle, but not the one I was hoping for:-( lol
Then I got another nice high tone wisper, about 9in down popped out the LC, I believe its a classic head.
All the detail disappear when I got home..oh well.
Some pewter spoons, and misc..
This Lead piece with the star on it came from the other day as well as the KG11.
If anyone knows what that is, and the stamped copper with the flower design on it please chim in..
Maybe off a horse saddle or furniture?
Anyway, Happy New year to all and to all a goodnight! !
My year end wrap up I will do over the weekend.
This little hunt was a great way to End my year..
Thanks for coming with me.
George

Fantastic way to end the year. The half dime is awesome and the belt buckle is really cool too. Congrats and I hope '16 is just as good for you

I'd say you had a darn fine Year..
Don't see how 16 could be much better but it Can.

Another killer hunt man  Awesome looking half dime. What did you turn your audio response down to? 2 or 3? I'm starting to prefer a lower audio response myself. I cant wait to see your year end wrap up post.

Turned it down to 3..
It works well in trashy areas.
As you know!! Lol
Bet you felt like you were on the hunt with me? Haha

Nice way to wrap up the year buddy. I can't wait to see what 2016 brings for you. T'Net may have to dedicate a separate forum just for your finds :laughing7:.

Congrats on finishing the year out with a great hunt.

Thanks Dave,
Maybe in 16 I can find 1 or 2 quality finds?

Thanks Bill,
2015 will be a year to remember.
Thanks for coming on the ride with me.

Nice way to end the year George! Congrats on the half dime. Seated silver seems to elude me. Happy New Year bud!

Nice way to finish up buddy. Thanks for the help tonight 8-)

Great way to end the year! I have enjoyed following your finds in 2015. Can't wait to see what you bring in 2016

Nice hunt. Looks like there ought to be a button or buckle in there somewhere, as some of that stuff does look military related.
I dug an 1838 half dime earlier this year too. My buddy dug an 1835 at the same site, which is capped bust.
I think 1838 was the first year of seated, or actually 1837 was a year they did both and the last year of capped bust.
Anyhow, what im saying is there should be capped bust there if youre finding 1838 coins.
That large star item looks like some decoration to me, however its strange they would make a decoration out of lead instead of brass, or something more rigid.
Lead is something that is soft and heavy, but I do sure find a lot of lead at my early sites. I just assume it was more plentiful and easier to work with.
Musketballs always sound really good on the XP, and once you pop the plug they sound even better. Those and melted lead blobs have fooled me a lot this year.
Anyhow, you had a great year. 2 plates, gold coin, tons of early silver, and coppers. Hope 2016 is just as good for you.

Awesome half dime Vino!

More vile stuff! :)

Vile (Vino-Pile)

I look up to you Vino (George)... If you could give advice to a fledgling detectorist like myself, what would it be? i.e. if you have a good site to go to, what is the best way to detect it?

You are the man:notworthy:

Giddy up buddy!
That's a real nice Seated, George, real nice.
Congrats again buddy!

Thanks PBR,
You know alot about what I've found for being a new guy on here??? Lol
Are you a stalker?
Its been good getting to know you.
And what you have found over these last couple months are awesome.
Hope 2016 brings you more..

Thanks Mack,
Only thing I can tell you is what I do.
When I get a new site I will spend the first half running around picking the good high tones out first.. You never know if you will not be allowed back??? Lol
Then after that depends on the age of the site and what depth your finding stuff. If im digging Lincoln cents at 6inches, I pretty much up and leave. Site depending.
If it is a good site, then when I come back its dig every blip above iron.
Hope this helps.
Good luck in the new year.
George

WOW!!! What else can I say? George you bring back the most incredible finds on a consistent basis amazing. You're going to have to build a museum in your backyard. Keep it up for 2016, The posts of your finds brings me joy because it helps inspire me get out there and swing the coil more often and longer!
Thanks George! And happy new year !
