Gonna be a long story...sorry...I'm just so excited! 
Got home Wednesday from my days activities and of course Joe (Civilman1) was already swinging in our fields. I walked out to say Hi! 
and to see if he had recovered anything good. As I got closer he looked up and gave me this big grin 
- I knew it was something good. As soon as I got close enough to hear him....he was talking quicker than I could comprehend...kinda like a kid on Christmas morning. 
(check his post out). He said he was done, his first real signal and he got an awesome find.
The light bulb went on
- It was still light out thinking to myself - cool, I've got an hour before dark I'll get a chance to use the MXT. I just about fell running to the house to get my stuff and headed back to the field - so excited that I forgot my shovel and had to go back... 
Anyway, I told Joe, I'll go clean out the iron - hey - it's my forte. I started swinging in the same area and of course getting iron-iron-iron but only diggin the deep iffy iron signals. Sun started to go down and getting frustrated I started to head back, swinging pretty fast and only stopping for those sweet deep sounds. I had made up my mind on the last signal that I was done....rang so shweet...but wasn't that deep only 4 inches, so I was not getting excited. Dug the plug and when I flipped it out I saw a circular disk land on the side.... I froze 
...started praying as I went down to pick it up. It was to dark to see any detail and I yelled to my son, who was standing up by the house....I think I got a coin! and I saw him run...and I knew exactly where he was headed - straight to Dad
Got inside and tried to get a couple picts before cleaning it but I was shaking to bad and then handed it over to Joe...when he said it looks like a coin - looks like a half cent - I'm surprised you all didn't hear me scream....I grabbed Joe - surprised I didn't break his back and lil man started cheering....and then I did some awesome backflips - you should have seen it... Happy Dance...put the moon walk to shame!
Anyway after cleaning it with a dry brush I see a hole in it - my heart fell - I thought man this isn't a coin, grabbed the loop and started looking close. First thing I saw was America, then stars....took me a little while before I could make out HALF CENT!!!!! and the backflips started again!!!! Started looking for the date, it's hard to see, but we finally made it out it's a 1809!!!! Yeah Baby!!!....(more backflips!!!!)..lol. Needless to say...this a FIRST for me...my first old coin EVER!!!! Long story, sorry, but as you can tell, I'm a little excited Thanks for looking!
