Ok, Not really :laughing7: ... but before looking, the craziest part about this find is that I was at a completely different spot 20 miles from the coin spill. Kind of strange that these turn up 4 days after my buddy pulled a gold coin.

Today a couple friends and I went out to one of the other camps that I've hunted quite a bit this last year. We all found some bullets and I ended up with a couple button backs, a flat button, and a J-hook. Even though they aren't real gold, I still think the fob or chain with two fashioned 1864 1 dollar gold coins is a great find.... And call me crazy, but I like these as much as the real thing! They will be proudly displayed in this year's relic case.

The weird thing about them is they're dated 1864 but have the earlier Liberty Head instead of the Princess Head that was on the 1864 coins ??? I know they were just a fashion item, but everything else about them seems fairly accurate aside from the lack of the words "Dollar" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Btw, they are the exact same size as the dollar gold coins.

If anyone has an idea what these came from, please share. A watch fob was my guess. :dontknow:

Thanks for looking,

-Jeff

HOLY heck!!!I bet you about crapped at first glimpse!!!

When my oldest daughter was about 2,we were at a park and I had just found my first gold coin a few weeks before,I sat there watching her play when out of the wood chips flips this big gold disc!!!!I jumped up and went to grab it....heart racing, seen what it was.....until I got it in my hand.......a chocolate covered in a gold tin foil...man!!!

Real cool. Watch fob makes sense.

Ok Ok your taking that "Show me State" S@&t alittle too far.....:laughing9: Just kidding. Cool finds and I agree must be a watch fob

The watch fob idea makes sense.....like you it's the oddball finds that give me a kick not necessarily the most valuable finds.

Regards + HH

Cool Finds :hello2::hello2: I think those are awesome, I would deffinitely give them a special display ! :icon_thumleft:

I think it's a segment from a broken costume jewelry necklace or bracelet. Probably not an exact copy so folks didn't gold plate them. May have been illegal to make exact replicas even in a non-gold metal. Neat find though!

That is a cool find real or not!

good ...after all is a nice interesting find . :icon_thumleft:

Nice History finds,,you will get that Gold Coin:icon_thumright:WTG,,HH
