That's just Peachy, lol !! Its solid Gold, the hallmark was likely on the clasp and chain. Look at the top where it broke you can see its solid, if it was plated you would see chipmarks. I say its fine gold 22-24k just by the fact it broke fine gold is soft. Awesome find, also one of the nicest crucifix's I have seen! Why can't the rings come in as gold rings or jewelry why nickle they can't separate that I hate digging pulltabs... Nice work!

Thanks everyone. I thought for sure the first gold I found I would be screaming my head off but instead I just looked all around and quietly stuck it in my pocket. I was so excited I couldn't detect anymore so I went home. Anyone ever feel like that?

I remember the first big class ring I found on the beach in Ocean City NJ. I basically acted like you did, I saw it in my scoop, quickly grabbed it and after a quick glance, into my pocket it went and I believe I too was unable to detect anymore. Works the same when you find your first super relic find and coin find, must be a human nature thingy.
