Thanks everyone. I thought for sure the first gold I found I would be screaming my head off but instead I just looked all around and quietly stuck it in my pocket. I was so excited I couldn't detect anymore so I went home. Anyone ever feel like that?

I remember the first big class ring I found on the beach in Ocean City NJ. I basically acted like you did, I saw it in my scoop, quickly grabbed it and after a quick glance, into my pocket it went and I believe I too was unable to detect anymore. Works the same when you find your first super relic find and coin find, must be a human nature thingy.

I am positive it's not gold plated. I have no idea what it weighs but it's fairly heavy. There isn't a hallmark but I can tell it's gold.

Nice job! And dig those nickels! I dug 2 gold rings and they BOTH read as nickels.

And yes, when I found my last ring I got such a rush I couldn't concentrate any more, so I called it a day!

peachy, Check all over that thing..if it's soild gold by law it has to be marked somewhere the content of gold... like 10k 14k..if you can't find any marks like that it may just be plated...but I think that to has to be marked by law.... anyways glad you found some gold... Now send your lucky to me cause I haven't found squat in weeks...
