finally,my first gold coin.

and it only took 26 years lol.
i've been taking my camera with me for a while now just in case i found something nice but i never expected something this nice.

here is the field i've been on for the last few days.

i was on it this afternoon for about an hour with only scrap to show for it.
got a signal that i thought was more lead.
dug out some soil(muddy soil at that) and saw the edge of a gold coin.got my camera out and took these.

its a GEORGE 111 spade guinea 1788.
to say i'm a happy camper would be a slight understatement.

i've come back to relive my gold coin find and to read again the cool comments i got for finding it.
hope to find another one this year,won't be from lack of trying.
the gold coin won the coin of the year award at my local club which blew me away as it's my first year there.
once again,thanks everyone for the nice comments,makes it all the more special.

research lead me to 2 fields over that was meant to be a medievel market/fair site.found 2 hammered coins on that field so spread out a bit lol.there wasn't a town here just fields that were used by people.also a lot of the fields here were used as "night soil fields" stuff was thrown on here from the local villages,early waste disposal.good stuff was thrown out with the bad.
