Find any good Iron signal targets?

I usually ignore my iron target signals on my ace...Wondering if by doing so if I am losing out?

Have you found any decent targets with iron signals?

Larry, I don't hunt with the 250, but in general, iron signals will be iron. True, once in a blue moon an iron signal could be something miscategorized d/t depth, or super low conductivity (tiny thin platinum earings, or whatever). But in general iron will be iron. In junky land sites, you'd certainly go crazy trying to dig all the iron just to find those flukes.

There is another question though in this: Iron may also be covering (masking) something good underneath it. That's different than asking "what iron signals may be" though. In that case, the iron that's covering something good, is still faithfully reading "iron", it's just that you can't see through it. Some machines can see through (target average) better than others for this. This would be for things like ghost town and relicky hunting.

I like to think as my metal detector as just that and not as a metal identifier. Sometimes its right and you dig what it says, but I have had copper, lead, and pull tabs come up as iron before on my machine. I started digging all the iron singles I get after I dug a 24" iron spike then went over the hole again and found the good stuff the iron was hiding on me, if I dig nothing but iron I will just wait till I get out of that area before I start digging the iron signals again.

i found a musket frizzen once
and the o assortment of really old tools files knife blades etc
also you dig away the iron from masking other desirable items

and whats lying beneath or next to that iron. I for the most part dig it all.....I'm to damn curious.

Gun parts, cannon balls, spear heads, even a full size cannon.
Never found a hoard until I accepted that deep good finds indicate as iron on all machines and ignoring targets on the basis that they are to wide to be good is fatal.
