Shermerville--A party town. 300 people and 5 saloons.

I Hunted some woods in the burbs yesterday and found this old foundation and what I think was a well.
The two tokens are identicle and I think were good for a pint of beer.
I found this about Shermerville--

In 1901, three hundred residents incorporated the village of Shermerville. The village had five saloons, a meat market, a coal and feed store, a general store, a harness store, a stonecutter, and a railroad station. Shermerville gained notoriety during its early years for boisterous gatherings at its inns and taverns. In 1923 the town's approximately 525 residents sought to change its image by changing its name to Northbrook.

Best luck to all, Merf

Hey Merf congrats, I grew up there and my parents still do. There sure aren't many places left there to hunt. As far as history goes the building in the town park was actually moved there and is one of the original taverns. As far as history, John Hughes the director who made Uncle Buck and Ferris Buellers day off is from Northbrook and if you notice the town is named Shermerville and it's more of a dig than a compliment. If you want to meet up next time give me a shout, who knows I might even be some help

It's not often one finds a token from it's home town.

Me too! Love the token!

Merf! 8) Dang what a hunt! You're gonna have to hunt in the woods more often! :o

Congrats on all those awsome finds!! Nana :)

Is Shermanville the same as Shermerville? ??? Are these the same woods that Sherm loves so much? :icon_thumright:
