Went to the field I have found several points in this year after the storms last night. I got two arrowheads and my first ax well I believe it's a ax. It's 3/4 grove. The cool part is how I found it. I was detecting and looking around at the same time when I saw a piece of nice flint. When I went to pick it up I stuck my shovel in the ground to free up a hand and it struck something. Around here there's not many rocks so I pried up on the shovel and the ax popped out of the ground. I couldn't Believe it. Of all places I stuck my shovel right on top of it, that must be 1 in a billon chance lol. HH!

Looks good to me can we see the bit edge?

Now that is an axe! The relic gods were smiling on you.Looks to be a rare one/type not often seen. Congratulations to you. One heck of an artifact.

That is really a nice one! Great story too!

AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!

Really nice and long axe Collector01 ! I don't think I have seen one quite like that before, and the way you found it was just meant to be. We have a sandy knoll on our farm up in QA County, where there are not any natural rocks to be found either, just artifacts. Last season I started carrying and old camp fire hot dog cook cooker with me when I walk. It is just a metal pole with 8 smaller metal skewers on the end that I poke 6 inches into the ground to feel for rocks. We have found two flake tools and one point that way. HH

Ive been looking for years and haven't found 1 yet. Congrats on that find

Very nice and congratulations on that one!!

Thanks for all the comments! And rock you will get yours, after 22 years I've only got a Celt and now the ax. Both a couple days after my birthday 20 years apart. Just go out a couple days after your next birthday and you'll get one.

:icon_thumleft: That's a dandy axe!

Absolutely beautiful piece Collector01. Bet you heart got pumping on that one!! I know mine would have.

You should have gone out and bought a lottery ticket after that one, super luck!

Man!! The picture of that axe sitting in the dirt sure is pretty! That is a long axe. I would think it's quite a bit rarer than most grooved axe heads.

That is really a beauty. Never seen one like it.
