Congratulations, they are getting harder to find... if its got a date your even luckier...Found at place I've gone over many many times and is starting to get tall. Short lunch hunt. Under microscope glasses it's 1919. It cleaned up good I think after I got home.
That's what I've heard. Glad it still has decent detailsCongrats on your first Buffalo Nickel !
Your lucky your first one has a visible date - a good 50% of them don't.
Maybe I should leave it aloneVery pretty patina. Nickels usually don’t do to well in the soil.
I think it will display nicely with the red color.Maybe I should leave it alone

Very cool infoalthough I prefer our coins to have depictions of Lady Liberty instead of politicians, I've always like the buffalo nickel series. I think it's a really cool design. It might surprise some people to learn that the Indian on it was not an image from one model, but rather a composite of three men who posed for the image. Chief Iron Tail of the Oglala Lakota, Chief Two Moons of the Cheyenne, and Chief John Big Tree of the Kiowa
I mean I get it a lot of detectorist like finding older and certain coins they don't have yet .Congrats on your first Buffalo Nickel. Those are a fun and ( I feel ) underrated coin. I really like finding them.
