Finally got a musket part. I have the gun my grandfathers grandfather had but I found this piece myself. I'm proud. It should clean up nice I will post an after pic . Found at late 1800s site I been hitting on my lunch break in the heat. It paid off. I was about to abandon this place as done.

Nathan all of us would love to see the finished product of your weapon in all it's glory when your done ! Back in the early 60's I helped my Uncle on his chicken farm & cutting his land and a friend of my Uncles close to Hillsburo Ill. found a musket rifle while out plowing his land. He cleaned it up and showed us his "find" , It was awe inspring for this youg boy to see this ole gun and it caused me to keep a eye out for old things all my life long (so far)!!!!
Best I could get it . I used renaissance wax . I also have a musket on my wall that was past down to me from my late grandfather . I was always told it was used in civil war but I don't have any real proof on that. Here's a pic of it . The lighting is not that good in my kitchen area

That looks more like an old American long rifle A.K.A. Kentucky and or Pennsylvania rifle that was more likely use in the Revolutionary war rather than in the Civil War, but if it would fire I guess it could of been use.

Yeah I can't tell if it used to be a flintlock and than my grandfathers cousin had this gun and put a percussion lock plate on it. When I was kid I used to se with but I don't have a lock plate at all . It was gone. So I really don't know much about it other than it's a musket.

Sweet find! Congrats...

Look in the bore. If it has rifling, it’s a rifle. If has no rifling, it’s a musket. I’m guessing that’s a rifle, not a musket.

I do know the barrel on the end is seven sides

Nice going Nathan
