First PA colonial/Spanish silver!!!

Every relic hunter has a "wish list" of items they would like to find. Then there is the "I wish" list of items so rare in your area that you never plan to find one without traveling or just getting dang lucky. Most areas that would hold these in our area private, no detecting or just plain impossible to get permission to. Well today I found an "I wish" item that got the blood pumping. My first PA Spanish colonial silver, 1784! Found in schuylkill county in a spot that lots of research shows may be connected to the Tulpehocken Trail. Seeing as how this beauty was under flat, road stones, I'd say a road was put there in the 1800s most likely right on top of the original trail. A dream come true! Found a modern cent and 1942 wheat penny to go with it. So many thoughts in my head. How did it end up there, by who, why, how bad did it hurt the family financially to lose this way back then. Very blessed to have found and added this to my collection. Even more blessed to have my uncle Jeff of Pa, my brother and BKINPA there to witness it.

Congrats! That was very high on my wish list too. I made a goal to find one in 2015, when I found it I just about had a heart attack, still waiting for the next :)

Yours is in awesome condition too.

The first one is always the best! Congrats

Very pretty silver, so cool how they come out of the ground looking like that. Congrats!

awesome Spanish coin, congrats!!
I remember when I got mine, it was
a weird signal, lower than a silver dime
signal I chased it everywhere and was
super surprised when It came out

congrats again!!

I'll tell you, this one rang up on the etrac as solid dime. I dug down to about the 5inch level and hit an old road stone, at that point I KNEW I was dealing with old, but expected seated era. It took a little while to excavate around the slightly larger than a brick stone and remove it. At that point, the pin pointer saw it, but it was still 3 more inches deep. I took a healthy scoop and saw it. At that point seeing the size I thought "cool, found a silver 3cent piece". Only after seeing the front bust did I realize what I had. I never even looked at the date, just jumped up, threw everything off that was connected to me and started yelling to the guys "I got spanish silver!!". For a moment I lost myself and acted like the buffoons I complain about on TV :tongue3: Sure was a heart stopper for me, I never imagined hitting something like this in our area.

Congrats on getting your first Spanish silver, may it not be your last.

Great save. Keep showing Uncle Jeff how its done
