Got out yesterday with Magnum to hunt a couple old houses I've hunted before. The first one was a bust so moved on to the "Haunted" site I got the 1876 seated quarter from a couple weeks ago. Lots of iron here so used 2 tone on the E-Trac and turned up the sensitivity to the point of almost unstable. This popped out in a area we had both been over a couple times. I didn't realize what I had till I showed it to Josh who knew right away what it was. I also picked up a couple of tokens. The small copper one has a "eye" on one side with no cash value on it and a Bulls head on the other. The second one is aluminum and on one side has "Good for 100 in Trade" and the other side is so badly corroded that it can't be made out. The ring was gold plated and still has some on the inside of the ring. The small button came from a pair of overalls from the 40's from the research I did last night. Will be taking to owner of property this week to get an idea of how it could have gotten on this site in Cabarrus County.

Nice score on the script I !

Congrats on a great button. My first scripted "I" was one with C S on it. Very rare.

WOW! Super find John!!

Thanks Guys. I went to the owners house today to show him my find but he was out. His wife told me that they have family documents from the purchase of the house. I have been very fortunate to meet some of the oldest living people in this area. 78 to 86 years young and still living on their own. I took a short break yesterday and walked across the street(long walk in the country) to introduce myself to the elderly gentleman sitting on his porch smoking a cigar. I knew he is a friend of the land owner and wanted to introduce myself as I only live a couple of miles
from them. Almost neighbors. He invited me to sit down and offered me a cigar which I accepted even though I quite smoking 30 years ago. I showed him the button find and before I could speak he spoke of the type of button it was and he wasn't surprised. He is one of 10 kids and was the baby of the family. He has one brother still kicking and they are the only ones left. His brother is 86 strong and only suffers from a heart murmur every once and awhile. Their family has been there from the early 1800's and the history just kept coming. What a honor to get to talk to these folks and they trust me to come on their land.

You sound like good people too, nice finds, I'm glad you found them and it connected you to those wonderful people. Good for you!

Real hard to progress after a find like that. Hope you dont get too bummed out with all the mundane finds that are certain to follow a find like that.Thats my luck anyway. One almost banner find for sure!!!
