At last I pull something out of the dirt that is not iron!! Although I am not unhappy to find iron, but this is great..8-) According to a map of 1878, the homestead belonged to a John Murray, and was beside a creek. The ground is hard, as there has not been much rain all summer and has been very hot. The metal detector was going off in quite a few areas and I will be going back there for sure! Just down the road from my house. The depression in the ground was where the home was, and they had a good water source from the beautiful creek that is there. Photo of my truck on the road, I didn't have to walk far into the woods at all. Also dug up sandstone foundation stones, and nails.
