Hey everyone,

I know it isn't very exciting for you guys but it is for me :P I just got a metal detector again after a few years (An Ace 250) and found my first find other than cans and pulltabs. I went to a lcoal park that was built when the city was first built, and found an old RailRoad spike! :D I'm happy....it's kindof cool to have a piece of my town's history.

Railroad spikes are nice bits of the past, be proud of that iron! There are a couple of iron enthusiasts here on the forums. We always like to see iron relics that people have found.

Hi, Staci! We're always glad to hear from a Newbie around here, so keep the posts comin'! I think a railroad spike is a pretty cool "first" - and it had to have produced a signal that caught your attention! Looking forward to seeing what you find next....

Welcome Staci!!

RR spikes are cool!! Enjoy this hobby and don't take any of us too serious ::)

Wow!!...and I always thought metal detecting was for old guys with long black knee socks and sandals. Glad to see things are a changin around here...Nice find Staci and look me up if you ever make it down to FL... ;)

Great to have you on board! But be warned - it can get VERY addictive! You should come to GA! Plenty of CW & Rev. sites to hit... besides, the scenery sure can use a pick me up... ;)

Welcome Staci: Spikes are good, keep on adding to it now. I was raised over in Mn. a long time ago and I remember a Tornado really ripped up Fargo in about 1957 or so. You might research around that and find a few places that would hold coins from that era. We had only wheats and silver dimes and quarters back then to lose. Keep posting.

Good luck with your ace. Im a owner of 250 too and very happy with it.
Have found allkinds of stuff. Example 4 silver rings in two hours last sunday.

Welcome aboard! What a cool find. I sometimes like to find stuff like this. You can find money almost anywhere but it's the other cool stuff that really makes this hobby interesting. You just never know what you will dig up. WTG! :)

Great , keep it up and let us know what happens!

Way to go, Staci! Keep working that park. I have hunted two parks this year and have come away with some nice "keepers" (1853 3-cent silver piece, 1875 Seated dime, Copious amounts of Indian heads (15), etc.). Happy hunting, Staci!

Cool find. I just started metal detecting this year and I love it. I know you will have a good time.

Congrats on your find! :) And good luck on your next outing!

Nana ;)

I like huting along the rails. haven;t found much yet except old spikes and stuff but it seems liek it should be a good place to hunt. There's an old depot but its on private land. I'm going to ask permission one of these days.
