First hunt at 1890's House - A Three Silver Day!!!

Well Folks, I gained permission to an 1890's house that sits on about 3 acres. It is a very cool property that has been restored, even the servants shack. The owner was an elderly lady and very friendly. She gave me a tour of the house, the servants shack, and the other outbuildings. She told me about an old car buried out amongst the bamboo jungle, and about one of the servant ladies that actually died in the old outhouse. She said I am welcome any time, and she even gave me some old NC license plates. I gave her one of my handmade birdhouses and put it up for her.
I hit it for the first time yesterday for about three hours. My second signal was a wheat penny (good sign), and my third signal was a Barber dime! I was all pumped up as I had only been there 5 minutes.
I pretty much just wandered the property trying to get a feel for the place.
My finds for the day were:
*1899 Barber dime
*1942 Merc dime

*Sterling silver knife (?) engraved with a date of "1907" and also the initials "TT" or "FF"? The makers mark says "James Allan & Co." which I believe to be from the 1880's from what I could find.
Any input on the initials or age would be greatly appreciated.
*Seven wheat pennies : 1919, 25, 39, 40, 41, 42, 46.
*Broken brooch, a pin. old compact, lead seal, two unknown bullets (white patina), brass oval whats-it.

Not a bad start. The Barber made my day, but the sterling silver knife trumped it.
Anybody want to dig out the outhouse? :icon_scratch:
Thanks for looking,
MM

GOD Bless

Chris

What a great place. If only all property owners could be like that fine lady.

Some people can fall in that outhouse and still come out smelling like a rose! Did you perfect your schmoozing in Indiana, Wisconsin or North Carolina?[emoji1][emoji1]

I'd love to come cut that cane. I honed my fishing skills on the banks of the Cumberland dangling my worm from a cane pole!

Why are you hoping for a Barber quarter? I think there is a Seated ( try looking around the outhouse, lol. Best seat in the house! ) there for you. Was there a mill on the site? That stone is very nice.

I have been saving my detecting finds for you. Once I get another 300 lbs of tin, it will be on it's way. Do you want it dumped in the driveway or just anywhere in the front yard?[emoji6][emoji5]️[emoji4]

Congrats on some nice finds. The initials mean send all silver items to Dman. LOL

I think you and Dman have a future as business partners.

Mr. Q. would probably even produce your commercials! Have your guy call my guy!

Awesome!! Sounds like you found a killer site with more awesome finds just waiting for your return.

If it was me I couldn't get back to that property fast enough.

Nice trifecta of silver Doug - love the spoon!

Very nice finds. The knife is killer. Congrats on getting a really spot to hunt, sounds awesome. GL&HH!

Very cool finds!

Jackpot in many ways.
Solid Silver ware is a nice find.

Now that is what it is all about. Developing a friendship and trust with your landowner and having an open invitation. Your finds are super and you are just scratching the surface, I am sure. The 1946-49 GM product vehicle (hard to tell exactly from pix) and the mill stone are treasures themselves! Hit hard the paths between the main house/servants quarters/and suspected outhouse areas! Happy hunting, Sub 8-)

Love that sterling knife, and that car in the forest! :notworthy:

I think its a 1940's Chevy "special deluxe" if I remember right. There is supposed to be an old International pickup truck out there too.[/QUOTE

War year Chevys especially a 1942 are very rare and command the xtra $$$

That was a great hunt! I would like to see the bird house :)

Thanks Darrow. Here are some of the birdhouses I made. I gave her one of the tall sunflower houses. The smaller houses I use 100+ year old wormy chestnut barn wood, old roofing tins, etc. I just go down in my workshop and create. It also keeps me out of my wife hair. LOL. :tongue3:
