So...after my son got the bug around Christmas with his ultra-cheapo MD present, we upgraded him Saturday with an ACE 300. He is Excited, but it will be this week before we can get out together for the first time.
Not wanting to be embarrassed in front of my son, I had pulled my GTI 2500 out of the attic after not seeing it for eight years. (No time for MD'ing while I was back and forth overseas the last ten years). Happy to find that I had indeed taken out the batteries before storing (Whew!), I put her back together, installed the stock 9" imaging coil, and pleased when she fired up with new batteries. I went out to two small yards of the large area of recently demolished military family homes behind our house for a quick test and reaquainting myself with my detector. Quick one-hour hunt just to practice, before doing some hunts with my son. Nothing special in the finds, and no silver yet, but the MD is working well, and will be workable for the deep hunts in those demolished areas, where all the houses had been built in 1958-1962. Pleased with one-hour results!

Kudos on upgrading Junior and blowing the dust off the 2500...those sites WILL produce silver, keep after it. Looking towards hearing that news...Ddf

Thanks for your service, glad you're home safe. Nice finds! I'd be thrilled with those results. The real treasure is spending time doing something fun with your son.

Sweeet hunt... Congrats

Glad you were able to get back in after the long hiatus.

Nice start, there is a similar area I have been eyeballing where I had been stationed in the past, my daughter still lives there so next time I am down I intend to hit it. Best of luck!!
