First Ring Tonight

Had a spare 20 minutes tonight, so I hit the backyard with my youngest daughter.
I have been reading a lot lately about digging those iffy signals, and this was one of
them. I don't know if it's silver -- don't know that much about jewelry. It gave a VDI
of 36-39 on my X-Terra 50 and was between 5 and 6" deep. It cleaned up very easy
with hot water and a bit of soap. It's not plated and shows quite a bit of wear on
the under side of the band. Also, the stone is orange and white striped (doesn't show
well in the pic, sorry). There are no ID markings anywhere on the ring. Could this be
silver? Or is it more likely something more along the lines of pewter? Anyway, even if
it is "junk", I'm pretty stoked to find my first ring.

Thanks for looking.....

Nice ring man ! I work with silver almost daily ( jewelry /silversmithing) and I'm rather confident that what I see in

your pic is silver . Very pleasing indeed ! Argentium.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I just checked it against a zinc
penny, wheatie, clad dime and a silver dime -- it rings/reads the same
as the silver dime. If it is indeed silver, it's my first ring and first
silver of any kind I've found! Glad I decided to go out
there for that 20 minutes. Thanks again.....

Congs on your fist ring. Know you know what to dig so there will be more to come.....Matt

Thanks, Matt -- this one was an eye opener for me for sure.

I'm pretty sure the stone is an agate -- the pic below looks very similar. I showed the ring
to my neighbor's wife this morning, and she's pretty confident that it's silver as well. I still
can't believe that goofy signal produced..... :icon_scratch:
