Best silver coin you could ever wish to find detecting. I found a dollar coin only a 2011 Rutherford B. Hayes president coin. But a dollar is a dollar. Great super find, where there is only one there could be more.

LOL on the above! I'd like to know where it came outta! I got my one and only silver dollar detecting in 2011 at Berkeley Park just east of Lakeside Amusement Park. A wasted 1887 O morgan that was in the water for 100 years.
Any place that gives up such a huge sliver is work working again!

I did manage finding a 1978 Ike dollar this year out of a private yard. So, I have two big dollars and a few sba's and the sacagawia's or however you spell it. Also, I got a 1966 gaming dollar token from Lake Tahoe last weekend. A total of 5 big gaming dollar tokens in my finds collection.

Well, now you've done it, you've ruined the rest of your detecting days! After finding a Peace dollar as your first silver, everything else will seem pointless.

Seriously though, it's an incredible find whether it's your first silver coin or your 1000th silver coin. As others have said, they are very, VERY hard to come by with a metal detector. Congrats!

Whoa! somehow that just doesn't seem fair. I've not found one after 38 years of hunting, and you go and find one right off the bat. makes me want to kick my dog. I guess it's a good thing I don't own a dog. awesome find for sure. congrats!

Good point, I had a great find or two when I first got my Tesoro Bandito (spelling is right doh editor!) Got a 1895 half dollar and a gold ring within first week or so!
