Thursday I got to hunt a friends(grandmothers) old farm, and we didnt find much, except a bunch of metal trash(axe head, shovel head, fencing etc) then He found a wheatie, I walked over and said, there must be silver around, and sure enough, I started swinging, and found that 54 rosie... pretty beat up but its still silver! :) Then that was about it for our finds that day, I did manage to find a wheat after he left...

Today I wanted to get up early and detect some local schools, But I slept in, and wasted most of my time, but had an hour and half until I had to be at work, so I headed to a school for a quick 1 hour hunt... I knew there used to be soccer fields, so that was my focus area, looking for jewelery/coins left behind...

Figured I would swing until I got to my destination, and first hit I got too, was this beautiful Barber!! The metal is in great shape, not very worn at all, except it has some tarninshing or something... should I try and clean it up, or let it be?

Man that is so sweet! My 5th piece of silver since I got detecting, only a month ago... got 2 pieces of jewelery, a war nickel, that rosie, and the barber...

Thx treasurenet! :)

Just would like to update...

When I first found the coin, I took it to two bullion dealer/coin shops at a local market... Both only offered me spot price(6$) on the quarter...

I took it in this week, all cleaned up... the first(better place) offered me 12$ for it. The other place offered 28$. I ended up taking the offer, and went to the other shop and bought an ASE with the money, after adding in 6$ myself... I know people said it could be worth more on ebay etc... Ive been trying to ebay the past month, and im barely making anything after their fees, paypals fees, etc etc... Feebay for sure

Lesson to me is that, cleaning a coin may very well increase the pricing on it... I guess it depends on how bad it needs cleaned... I was only offered spot price before i cleaned it, then offered 2x - almost 5x spot price after cleaning
