FIRST TIME OUT THIS YEAR FOR CW RELICS/ MY FIRST SHOULDER SCALE...

Well I recieved the whites TDI for christmas and have been dying to get out but the weather here in Va. has been pretty brutal since the new-year not to mention we had 26" of snow a few weeks ago. Today was supposed to be close to 50 degrees so I figured I'd get out for awhile. I was finally able to catch a little old lady at home that I had been wanting to ask if I could detect her property and couldn't believe when I pulled up and she was in the yard. After a brief talk she told me that her late husband had found a pile of civil war things dumped over her fence years ago from the adjoining property and showed me where it was. Needless to say I was very excited! I quickly gathered my things and headed down the fence. Within a few minutes I found my first bullet and as soon as I stood up and swept my machine I had another signal which turned out to be the eagle infantry button. After a few hours I hit another spot that produced most of what I found today including my first set of shoulder scales!
I had a great day but to be honest I missed my DFX! I found that with the TDI I dug every sound and as you can see by my pile of junk I did alot of digging. I just hope that with more practice it gets easier!!! Maybe some of you can give me a few pointers :help:

Looks as though the that TDI does alright. I'm a Fisher man can't give any pointers because I dig alot of trash too. Digging trash has it's benifits though. It's led Me to lots of great saves. Congrats on the saves. :icon_thumleft:

Those TDI's are something on the small brass. I don't know if anything will go deeper on cuff buttons and small stuff like that. I know of a couple people who have them and from what i've seen it is hard to tell the difference between items except for the brass stuff. That's why I decided not to get one. If you dig in Orange or Culpeper that is the machine to have though.

I'm using the Tesoro Vaquero, and I dig my share of junk. But, also within those junk signals, I'd estimate 10% turn out to be keepers. Out of my excellent coin signals, maybe owing to the type land I'm on, I'd say 20% of these Great signals turn out to be junk, like shotgun shells, bottle caps. Plus a lot of my "junk" signals turn into great signals, after I take away a layer of dirt, leaves, etc.

The ring I posted today was a junk signal, btw.

So, I dig everything, within a certain limit, and I'd say I average 40-50% keepers. I've done much better on some days, too.

Oh, just love your shoulder scale. Congrats on that great find.

Great looking find's there TC....Just picked up my first whole shoulder scale about 2 month's ago.Hope all your trip's out are just as successfull.Good stuff :thumbsup:
