Hi everyone.

I Just got back from a trip to the Dominican Republic, amd my dad who lives there gave me an item he foumd while digging up his land.
No one knows what it is, so please of anyone has any clue please share.

What I know about the item:
1- looks like a rock, but very heavy
2- practically indestructible, my dad tried many different things, sledgehammer, hacksaw, etc. And could not even scratch the surface

I will try to attach a picture to this post.

From picture bore diameter is actually 2.75 inches, consistent with a Spanish 3lb cannon. Maybe a stone cannonball?

Very very interesting thanks for sharing and welcome from Southern Louisiana!!!

I hope it's a cannonball that would be cool! There are a lot of pics from D.R. and surrounding areas of stone cannonballs. What I can't get over is how a guy from Southern Louisiana likes a post from someone who goes by Yankeesrule...lmao...j/k

P.S. I hope your talkin' 'bout baseball fella...lol

Well, I could be wrong but I believe the stone is a Yellowish Sapphire that was likely brought from Central or South America by the Spaniards. The stone was likely worked down by Natives and being a Sapphire would account for the heavy weight. I have found highly compressed conglomerate rocks made up of Chert, Agates, White Sapphires and other stones/rocks in a stream off the backside of Chunky Gal Mountain in North Carolina that weighed 4 to 5 times the weight of a normal Granite type rock of the same size. A long since passed friend cut one of the rocks for me but burnt up two expensive Diamond Saw Blades in the process.
