First time swingin'

My BH Tracker IV arrived earlier today so off to a local park we go...after reading the manual, air test, etc. of course.

Totals after about 3 hours....

11 varied nails...5 varied pieces of foil...5 varied pieces of wire...2 bottle caps...
1 bolt...1 pull tab...1 hair pin...1 paper clip...1 AAA battery...2 small UMOs (unidentified metal objects)

And the good stuff...3 nickels and 7 zincolns...just another 9,733 zincolns and I'll have this thing paid for!

Not sure if it was a good haul or not but it's more than I expected since I'd never had an MD in my hand before...

Learn to swing low, fast, whilst digging faster. The more trash, the better.

Not a bad day at all for the first time out......................HH

you need to dig everthing for a while so you can learn your detector to see what its telling you.good luck with your finds.more will come.

What he said.....HH!:laughing7:

Everything still sounds the same to me. Dig all signals. Sometimes you get surprises.

Yes when you first start and when you are still getting to know your detector, dig everything. Like mentioned above. After a while you will get to recognize the subtle things your detector may do when encountering an item of "interest" ..
Still I am impressed that you only had 2 bottle tops and a pull tab. I wish I only found that many tops and tabs when I go out :) Haha must be then that my favorite park plays host to the thirstiest bunch of campers out there.
Good luck out there !

Any machine that picks up on foil and pull tabs is a winner. You'll find nickels and Gold with it. The people that find those gold trinkets, dig alot of tabs and foil...

I recently read something about fostering a positive attitude each & every time you go out with your detector. Sort of like "Picture yourself digging up a silver dollar from the early 1800's". This creates the positive mindset of "Yes I can".

I like your name. I knew this guy everybody called wingnut.

Even though there are no big finds I'm still jealous. I'm cashing in some gold jewelry to buy a md so I can dig some foil and pull tabs.

Hmm me too... A friend of a friend, He isn't in SW Florida is he?

I am currently also running the Tracker IV until I have enough dough to upgrade in a few weeks to Ace 250. It's a great machine I have no complaints about it, but I need something with more features. It's a perfect starter, found me tons of wheats and clad and tokens.

Still don't have no idea what I'm doing
