First Time Swinging

Got my new to me MXT yesterday. Been reading up and such waiting for the big day. Went next door to the vacant place to pratice and learn some. Dug 2 pulltabs and 2 pieces of crushed beer can and a piece of Galv. pipe. At least in know it works! Kinda scary buying cross country but wavecrazy didn't disapoint.. Got to go somewhere else though, so much trash like smoke packs and pieces of junk around.

truthfully, my yard has produced more for me than any park I've been too. No trash. The parks I go to, I have to turn up my discrimination so even if there was a gold ring I would just go over it. There are more pull tabs,cans and lids than trees. If you can find some private land (yards) that's been working the best for me. People around here (MI) are slobs that would rather throw something on the ground than in a can. (not all people,so no one take offense , unless you do litter. than don't care if your offended)lol good luck hope you like this hobby HH

Nice. Just got a Ace 250 a couple weeks ago. Only been out a few times. Got a garret propointer pinpointer. Today was my first time out with that. Only found clad and trash hoping my first silver comes around real soon!

Trash indicates the presence of people. The more trash, the more people. The more people, the more odds of a ring. Old silver is a surprise, but you have to have a site dated for that era. Research will help you more now than just randomly swinging. Also you need to keep swinging, trash is part of it. You don't see how much trash you can dig in the glitzy ads. Depth is nice, if your a miner. Most finds will be close to the surface. Frost and ground disturbance seems to draw finds closer to the top. So use that discriminate and turn that sensitivity down and just spend time with the detector. Another part you don't see in the ad is the part you have to learn your detector. Could you see ads that were true? Made in China but worth the 900% markup. Or, Not another detector by our company that will do the same as the last 3, just more expensive. Or, the detector that has the programs you want and should have been included 10 years ago lol.

Good choice on your mxt in trashy areas set your discrimination on 2,put the mxt toggle switch to auto track and do not dig anything lower than a 14 on the vdi scale.A nickel will read between 14-20 on the vdi scale and will not show pull tab.Your gold ring will be in that range as well.
