Went to the tot lot I've been hunting with my son. Finally found a wheat cent (1953D), a little flag pin and $.99 clad. The boy only found 2 pennies. I think he was missing stuff, the MDs couldn't move a foot without beeping. He was in all metal mode, instead of coins/jewelry. Lots of trash, nails, washer, bottle caps, etc. found.
I also got a signal at two inches, which turned out to be at least 12 inches down. It was a metal object about the size of a frisbee. Bolted down to something. I think it was a well cover from the old house, that had been sealed and covered up. Whatever it was, I couldn't move it and gave up on digging it. When I tapped on the top, it sounded hollow.

Congrats on your first wheatie! Careful with that covered thing, it might be a hatch. Kind of like on the TV show, "LOST!" HH

Congrats on your first Wheatie...May you find many more...HH

Thanks guys. I found my first IH (terrible shape) there, now a wheat, I know there's gotta be some silver too. I may need to get a sniper coil to get through all the trash. But, it's nice to have a tot lot, that produces old and new.

Yey!!!! Wheats are HOT this week it seems. Gotta be some silver headed our way. Congrats. :)

Hey Brian

How old is your son? metal detecting is a nice hobby to share with kids. Also they can find their own college money that way... only kidding.

Glad that you are able to get out and hunt... it is either too cold, too much snow, raining, too wet or I am too much of a wimp... one of them.

Congrats on the wheat!

He's 16. Using an Ace 250.
Luckily, when you got 13-20 in. of snow, we got 3-4 in. of rain. Now the frost is gone.

Congratz on the first wheat penny ... now its time for silver ... good luck ~ Jimmy
