I love finding wheat pennies, I don't care what anyone says they are really cool. My oldest coin so far is a 1918! You have a great coin and I am sure you will find more. Welcome to the addiction, I mean hobby!

Agree!!!!!!!!!! :)

Missy could you make the picture a little bigger? ;D I wish all coins found were posted this well! Great job on the pic and your first wheat.

BTW she has a pit in her basement.

Congrats on the wheat! Looking forward to seeing more of your finds.

Thanks everyone. Actually it was found at a school where they just put in the playground no more than 6 years ago. Just goes to show, they are still floating around!!

Yea, I took the pic in macro mode but then couldn't figure out how to make it smaller (uhhh, I finally figured it out, kinda!) :P

I live in Houston, Texas we have no basements! I know, it's crazy.....something about flooding, swamp and so on. ;)
Come on haven't you ever seen PeeWee's Big Adventure, "There's no basement in the Alamo" ::)

might have been there pre play ground --- most likely not a recent loss item---could have been there for years --the old pennies do well in soil unlike modern ones that are junk---Ivan

TRUE, but I really think it was a recent loss. Just a few years ago when I worked at a grocery store, I would find wilver every now and then in the tills. Some people just don't know there is any difference I guess.

some folks are just careless---Ivan

Congrats on that first! :) Welcome to Tnet~

Nana :)

Congrats on your 1st, Missy!! Looking forward to seeing more of your finds.

Missy,
You're wilvery.
The more you think about wilver, the more you find! There's wilver in your future! :D

My father-in-law chucks his pennies out into his yard. He will get a bunch and then just throw them out there. Says he hates pennies and wishes they would stop making them. I gave him a jar to put them in but he won't so I just go out there every couple of months and pick them all up. Most are laying on the ground but some manage to get at least an inch or so deep and I just can't figure this out. So careless or someone just doesn't keep pennies. Who knows? What matters is you found it and good for you!

Way to go Missy (that's my cat's name). I found a 56D the other day myself...and I use an M6, coincidence? I don't think so. Every now and then I find a wheatie or two in the wood chips so I know they haven't been there too long. I have found 32 rings so far this year (since the beginning of April). Five Gold, 1 Silver and the rest junk. The M6 doesn't do too bad, just don't always believe what it's telling you...it is easily fooled. I've found that if you use the factory marks and dig all good signals you will do well. Have fun Missy. ;D
