I'm new to the hobby and could use your profesional opinions.

I have narrowed my search for a detector down to either a

Fisher 1225x or a Tesoro Silver uMax

I live in Connecticut so I have a lot of different ground conditions and fresh water lakes.

old houses, beaches ,farms.

So if you have an opinion or have used either of thes please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Of course they are both good machines!

I like the Tesoro Silver uMax.

Amazing how they just simply do what they are supposed to...

Yes go with the Tesoro, Fisher's quality and customer service went way down hill since they were bought out.

I agree the Silver is the way to go. It is a sweet unit for thr money. The Lifetime warranty is sure nice too.

IMO the quality of the Fisher's is still down as customer service has suffered. The Umax is the one to get of these two, you won't regret it.

You can not goo wrong with a Tesoro. For the money the Silver is hard to beat.you don't need a meter. Also for a little more there is the Ciablo.

We all forgot to mention you will need quality headphones with a Tesoro machine.

Tesoro offers audio qualities that many other machines do not.

Personally, I prefer separate volume controls.

I agree. I own a higher-end Fisher (for its day) which I wouldn't trade for anything...but the 1225 is less of a machine than the uMax is--and the comments about customer service and warranty limitations are all true. You might want to consider getting the larger coil for the uMax, if you have any $$ left over.

Red,

Thanks for the sale! When you get it, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. The "Silver" is a great machine, I think you are going to like it. Joe
