Flint type ?

Is there a particular flint that is knapped for Flintlock riffles ? What would be the best to Knapp for a riffle ? OR will any ole flint do just fine?

Another place you can find flint that was ballast is in the Hudson River in NY. Inbound ships dumped their ballast in the river. Jack Holland from the Buffalo Museum of Science documented several of the dumping sites. At least one modern flintknapper from NY has been recovering some an utilized it for knapping.
